\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How do I trap thee?  Let me count the ways\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  (apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning)<\/p>\n

Sustainable Development (Chambers of Commerce), Smart Growth, Smart Streets, Regional Visioning Projects (Convention Center, Claude Legris\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 various grandiose visions), Green Jobs, Going Green, Alternative Energy, Comprehensive Planning, Growth Management, Consensus, Quality of Place (Ft. Smith Board of Directors & Mgr), New Urbanist Communities (ERC Properties\/Rod Coleman), New Market Tax Credits (Griffin, Pyle, Dunn), Historic Preservation (all the above mentioned), Local Visioning (Lake Ft. Smith Board Retreats), Facilitators (Strategic Government Resources consultant who conducted the expensive \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Retreats\u00e2\u20ac\u009d), ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives)(North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hayes, CEO of USA division) PPP (Public Private Partnerships)\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6..by no means a complete list.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, By any other name would smell as sweet\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  (Shakespeare)<\/p>\n

The point is the insidious nature of the Collectivist attack on individual rights to property, to privacy, to travel, to choose occupations, to keep one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s earnings, assumes many deceptively noble sounding names, but all have the same ultimate goals\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6skinning the taxpayers to increase the wealth of the instigators, to control the masses as they see fit and to erase the basic tenants of individualism.
\nThese programs\/schemes are always presented and pursued by the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153leaders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of the communities in which they are found.   The \u00e2\u20ac\u0153leaders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d sometimes know why and what they are doing\u00e2\u20ac\u201deither in it for the money or the power, and sometimes \u00e2\u20ac\u0153leaders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ignorantly go along with the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Emperor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s New Clothes\u00e2\u20ac\u009d presentation in order not to appear stupid or against progress.<\/p>\n

The results are the same if the programs are implemented.  More losses of individual freedom, property, earnings, and the enlightenment concepts upon which they are based.<\/p>\n

Locally, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve heard a lot of talk about \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Quality of Place\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153New Market Credits\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, and a 300 acre parcel at Chaffee Crossing being eyed for a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153New Urbanist Community\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ironically named Providence.<\/p>\n

Some reasons for the success and proliferation of these taxpayer funded programs are;
\n1.    Certain community\/town\/city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Movers & Shakers can smell an opportunity to siphon money light-years away.  They have the connections already to cash-in or they hire consultants or attend seminars to learn the ropes.  The Movers may or may not be concerned with Collectivist ideology behind such programs (either don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care, or like & approve the concepts)
\n2.    Certain officials are too na\u00c3\u00afve or lazy to be able to intelligently fulfill their obligations to the citizenry.
\n3.    The working middleclass & poor are often either too tied up in survival and family, or they are lazy with self-imposed ignorance, often in denial that leaders might & do betray.
\n4.    The media is smitten with the leaders and fail to do their complete job of delving & reporting, especially if the subject matter leans to the left.
\n5.    The community agencies cover for one another and for the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153leaders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.
\n6.    Fear of being called a selfish \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Aginner\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (someone who often opposes pet projects)
\n7.    Spending someone else\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s money is the easiest job in the whole world.<\/p>\n

This subject is too vast to cover in this article, but those interested can easily do some research.  There is a ton of information on the internet. Recommended sites are: www.learn-usa.com.<\/a> americanpolicy.org\/. <\/a> www.channelingreality.com  <\/a> The original Agenda 21 was written by a Communist for the U.N.  The ultimate goal is global governance to be achieved by erasing borders; controlling populations, preferably in self-contained units; increasing militarization of government agencies (locally note the police department\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s recent purchase of SUV\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s & 100 new AR 15\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s), education by indoctrination, e.g. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153No Child Left Behind\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which reduces all to the lowest common denominator (thinking, independent, freedom-loving folks need not apply), and cradle to grave manipulation of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153human resources\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.  Incidentally, rational, independent, self-reliant individuals highly resent and resist being considered a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Human Resource\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n

Agenda 21 and its bastard babies represent vicious, successful weapons in the arsenal of Collectivism vs Individualism.  Plato (Collectivism) vs. Aristotle (Individualism) are still battling it out after all these centuries.  Man\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life belongs to the community\/state\/nation vs. man\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life belongs to himself.  It takes a village vs. it takes individual responsibility.  It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hatred of the good vs. love of individual achievement.  It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s envy vs. merit.  It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s parasitism vs. effort\/work\/pride. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s subservience coupled with power-mongering vs. individual life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness.<\/p>\n

Hopefully it is not too late, but reality paints a dismal picture for human liberty once more on this planet. The Siren Song of Something for Nothing & Forced Redistribution is stronger than the Enlightenment Philosophies which guided our Founders.  Knowledge and the thirst for knowledge languishes on the barren plain of a planned intellectual famine.<\/p>\n

Knowledge and those who impart and fight for it are our only hopes.  Without which we enter the new Dark Ages which has already condoned torture, imprisonment without due process, locks on freedom of speech & all the rest of our Constitutional liberties, endless wars, jobs outsourced & stolen, 3rd World invasions by the millions\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6all producing an equally miserable standard of living, except for the elite of course. <\/p>\n

Our only choice is to FIGHT against the return of histories\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 reigns of terror & control, and Agenda 21 & the bevy of bastard babies is one good place to draw the line in the sand, but it requires an informed citizenry.<\/p>\n
