{"id":322,"date":"2010-10-12T16:58:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-12T16:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.arkansasfreedom.net\/?p=322"},"modified":"2010-10-12T16:58:00","modified_gmt":"2010-10-12T16:58:00","slug":"the-fix-is-in-the-convention-center-tax-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arkansasfreedom.net\/?p=322","title":{"rendered":"The Fix is in: the Convention Center Tax Ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: black;\"><strong>The Fix is in\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthe Convention Center Tax ballot.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: black;\"><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">October 12, 2010<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">The Mayor and Board members are elected allegedly to carry out the wishes of the voters and the City Manager is hired to implement those wishes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Is this being done?&nbsp; Hardly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">The city government, shirking their responsibilities, turned the matter of raising money to resurrect the moribund Civic Auditorium to an Ad Hoc Committee, which allows the voters 3 choices: 2 new taxes and a broken promise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">1.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">Levy a 1% tax on prepared food<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">2.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">Levy a \u00c2\u00bd% tax on prepared food<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">3.<span style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: black;\">Reallocate 5% of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DEDICATED<\/span> Street Tax revenue to the Convention Center. The fact that some Directors are willing to flagrantly violate their honor to reposition a Dedicated tax to some other venue shows they cannot be trusted.&nbsp; If 5% can be removed from the Dedicated street tax this would certainly indicate that the 1% street tax is generating more revenue than the city needs for streets &amp; sewers; therefore where is the excess revenue going now?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Now to the Convention Center ballot.&nbsp; The Ad Hoc committee and City Directors conveniently left out an integral component of the ballot which is<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">:&nbsp; NONE OF THE ABOVE.<\/span>&nbsp;&nbsp; Another dishonest position. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Gentlemen, why are you consciously eliminating what appears to be a substantial segment of voters from the election process by refusing to allow them to articulate their views, i.e<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.
