Secure Arkansas chief sees danger in influx, aims to limit

\nfears for her safety and her family since she became the leader of a drive to
\nban illegal aliens from receiving certain state services.

\nalso frets about America merging with Canada and Mexico, a superhighway \u00e2\u20ac\u015310

\nallowing part of Kansas City to become \u00e2\u20ac\u0153sovereign Mexican territory.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d

\nto collect 61,974 Arkansas registered voters\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 signatures on a petition by July
\n7 to qualify the proposed initiated act for the Nov. 4 ballot.
\nparty primary elections, typically big days for collecting signatures for
\nballot initiatives, will be Tuesday.
\nproposed law would make state agencies take affidavits in which people say they are citizens<\/span> (<\/span>not citizens but LEGAL aliens) <\/span>before
\nthey would be eligible for government benefits. The Department of Health, which
\ndoesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t ask for residency documentation before providing service, would be
\naffected.
\nbenefits that federal law requires, such as public school education, would be
\nallowed to continue for illegal aliens. Also allowed would be Medicaid-funded
\nprenatal care, which isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t federally required but which the state has chosen to
\nprovide since 2004.
\nsays she doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know details of why certain things are allowed in the
\ninitiative and why others aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t, saying attorneys she wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t identify helped

\nCraigheadCounty Courthouse, in a thick Midwestern accent, she lamented the
\nincrease in the Hispanic population in Arkansas since 1990.

\nWe need an immigration policy. The citizens should be outraged in the stateof

\npeople in Arkansas politics are familiar with Burlsworth, but some don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like
\nher message.
\nSells of Little Rock, a public relations executive and a member of the Arkansas
\nFriendship Coalition, which opposes efforts to place further restrictions on
\nillegal aliens, said Burlsworth\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s assertions don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make sense.
\nsounds like your classic conspiracy theory generated byfringe talk radio and
\nthe Internet,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sells said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It seems rather
\nfar-fetched to think that America is building a superhighway to import illegal
\nimmigrants from Mexico into America or that Mexicans are trying to overthrow

\nserious concerns about any group or individual from this paranoid mindset
\ntrying to establish state policy on a matter as important as this.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nRep. Rick Green, R-Van Buren, who sponsored a law last year aimed at preventing
\nfirms that contract with the state from hiring illegal aliens, said he knows
\nnothing about Burlsworth and has talked to her only once. But he likes that she
\nhas gotten involved with the immigration issue.
\nPolice Chief Larry Coffman said Burlsworth is wrong to say that police won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t
\narrest illegal aliens for criminal infractions of state law, such as making
\nthreats.(<\/span>Don’t
\neven get us started on this. No car tags, no insurance, disturbing the
\npeace, driver’s license, etc.)<\/span><\/strong>

\nand he needed to get back home.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nlived in Hot Springs for a while, then Rogers, before moving to Bryant about

\nhomemaker, she has two sons and two granddaughters. But she stays active
\noutside the home in the anti-abortion movement and traveled back to Kansas City
\ntwo years ago to help fight a ballot measure to expand stem-cell use. Her side

\nvoted for President Bush in the 2000 and 2004 elections but regrets it.

\nelection, she attended gatherings for Republican presidential candidate Ron
\nPaul but says she wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t a supporter and was only trying to get more

\nsays she has no problems with Hispanics, as long as they are in America
\nlegally.
\nshe says Hispanics who are illegal aliens don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care about American values

\ngroup raised $1,015 through April. It formed March 3 and didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get the

\nLegislature will feel more confident to take additional action against illegal
