Thursday February 7, 2008 Fort Smith\/Fayetteville Ch. 5 KFSM,reported Springdale\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153medical community\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was warning the public that a leprosyoutbreak \u00e2\u20ac\u0153could blossom into an epidemic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The story sent the chambers of commerce in Springdale, Rogers,and Fayetteville into a frenzy, denying vehemently the existence of a leprosyand tuberculosis outbreak in Springdale.  Why?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

February 8th<\/sup> the Arkansas Health Department,Branch Chief of Infectious Diseases, Dr. James R. Phillips said \u00e2\u20ac\u0153there hasnever been an epidemic of leprosy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ninety-five percent of the populationare genetically resistant to leprosy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Phillips said \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We have had leprosy in Arkansas sinceforever\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I am a native Arkansan, 50 year practicing pharmacistinvolved in academic settings, involved in durable medical equipment, teaching,continuing education and never has leprosy been mentioned in any medical orpharmacy issues.  Regarding TB and polio,both for the most part were wiped out in the 60\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and have been reintroduced byforeign nationals.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Phillips stated \u00e2\u20ac\u0153some people get the idea that leprosyjust came with the Marshallese. That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not true\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.  He later stated it came from Hispanics. Whocomprises the hundreds of thousands of illegal invaders in our state?  <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Roughly 75% of leprosy cases in Arkansas and the U.S. duringthe last decade have been among \u00e2\u20ac\u0153foreign born individuals,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d including Marshallese,Hispanics and others who have entered our country.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the matter of TB, more than 55% of cases are amongforeign born.  <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Phillips also said that leprosy is a substantial issuein the Marshall Islands.  Phillips statedflippantly that both diseases are treated with antibiotics, but did not reportthe outcomes. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

KFSM\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s story said they based their report on statements bylocal physicians.  Note the word pluralregarding physicians.  Two stories appeared2\/9\/8 in the Fort Smith Times Record & the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reportingonly the corporate\/political point of view. None from the medical community.  If a serious investigation were intended, thestate and border states\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pharmacists would be consulted also. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Very serious questions arise from this gloss over.  A brief definition of Fascism: Fascism is anexus between corporations and governments, producing a symbiotic relationship.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Note that Dr. James R. Phillips responded the day after thestory broke that it was a hoax and there was not an approaching epidemic of TBand leprosy. A protection racket reaction?  Chiming in at the same time were such renownedauthorities in Infectious Diseases as Perry Webb, Springdale\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ChamberPresident, accompanied by Senator Bill Pritchard and his authoritativestatement, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153everybody needs to take a deep breath and calm down.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There hasbeen no outbreak.  I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know who putthat information out there, but there is absolutely no evidence of an outbreakor epidemic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is indeed assuring since it comes from a career N.W.Arkansas politician.  Pritchard says whoput the information out there?  He shouldbe aware of the big picture before he runs his mouth.  Springdale physicians made the assertion, asstated above.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then comes Dr. Phillips, career bureaucrat, who the dayafter the story broke said the false report \u00e2\u20ac\u0153just makes people panic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.   My question to Dr. Phillips; withoutconsulting with the Springdale medical community, how do you know the report isfalse?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The crucial thing to remember is both the TB and leprosy bacillusare airborne and spread through the inhalation of infected particles from aninfected individual who is coughing. Think a line of Tyson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s poultry employees for example.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are 6-8,000 Marshallese living in Springdale, thelargest population outside the Islands. Who do you suppose these folks work for? Let me give a clue, one of the largest crime families in the U.S., theTyson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and by all means, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t forget the tens of thousands illegal Mexicanaliens who live in the crime infested cities of Fayetteville, Springdale,Bentonville, and Rogers.  Home to theWalton\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, the Tyson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, the Hunt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, the George\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, ad infinitum.   And Rogers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 resident Congressman JohnBoozman. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Not one of these individuals, organizations, or politicianshas spoken to the involved medical community residing in NW Arkansas, yet inless than 24 hours, politicians, bureaucrats, and corporations killed the story,and are calling certain Springdale physicians liars.  This is the most significant story regarding Arkansashealth care that has broken in our state re: the legal immigrant and theillegal Mexican and OTM invasion, which dramatically demonstrates the introductionand reintroduction of diseases which never existed here or were eradicateddecades ago.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You are now privy to a vivid, cruel example of Fascism. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It also must be noted that Gov. Mike Beebe, Cong. JohnBoozman, and the CDC have been informed of this event.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
