On October 23,
\n2007, the House of Representatives passed what may be the most dangerous bill
\never to come down the pike. This bill, like many of its predecessors on our
\nsteady march toward totalitarianism, sailed under the radar. There was
\nvirtually no publicity or fanfare. Now, the bill has gone to the Senate, and is
\nin committee. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The bill is
\ncalled the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of
\n2007 (H.R. 1955\/S. 1959). The language in this bill is so maddeningly vague it
\ncould mean anything. It could therefore be tailored to attack any group
\nopposing national and international policies that have the backing of the
\ncorporatist-governmental power system. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Consider the
\ndefinition offered of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcviolent radicalization\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (from Sec. 899A of the bill
\nbeing referred to the Senate): \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the process of adopting or promoting an
\nextremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based
\nviolence to advance political, religious, or social change.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This definition
\nalone ought to raise your hackles! What counts as an \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcextremist belief system\u00e2\u20ac\u2122?
\nWhat constitutes \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcviolence\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? Either one is anyone\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s guess, because nowhere in
\nthe bill is the word \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcextremist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 defined, nor is \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcviolence\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 defined. In
\npractice, they will mean whatever federal bureaucrats or others calling the
\nshots want<\/em> them to mean. What about \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcfacilitating\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? This is a favorite
\nword in today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mushy political-correctese. Does it mean \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccausing\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? Or merely
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcencouraging\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? How much \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcencouragement\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Consider the
\ndefinition offered for \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorism\u00e2\u20ac\u2122: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the use, planned use, or
\nthreatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or
\nbased and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the
\nUnited States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the
\ncivilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in
\nfurtherance of political or social objectives.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

No examples of
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorism\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 are offered. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

One could
\nunderstand a federal proscription against \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthe use \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 of force or violence\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u2122
\nassuming we know what these amount to. But \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcplanned\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 use? What does this mean?
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcPlanning\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 involves thought, not action. In such ways this bill kicks open the
\ndoor to the officially sanctioned creation of thought crimes that can be smuggled
\nin under \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorism\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and treated accordingly. Some critics have
\ntherefore dubbed H.R. 1955\/S. 1959 as the Thought Crimes Act of 2007. They have
\nspoken of the potential criminalization of dissent in America. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

There is plenty
\nmore in this insidious bill that ought to scare the living daylights out of
\nanyone defending basic freedoms recognized by our Constitution. Sec. 899B of
\nthe bill is entitled \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcFindings\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and consists of nine numbered paragraphs\u00e2\u20ac\u201dall of
\nthem legislative land mines. There is no need to look at them all. Consider
\n(3): \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization,
\nideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United
\nStates by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related
\npropaganda to United States citizens.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Again, the bill
\noffers no definition or examples of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcterrorist-related propaganda\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 available
\nover the Internet. The phrase could therefore again mean anything those in
\npower want it to mean. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Or consider (6):
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The potential rise of self radicalized, unaffiliated terrorists domestically
\ncannot be easily prevented through traditional Federal intelligence or law
\nenforcement efforts, and requires the incorporation of State and local
\nsolutions.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Read between the
\nlines. H.R. 1955\/S. 1959 would accelerate the federalization and militarization
\nof state and local police departments. If this bill becomes law, expect more
\nTaser attacks on ordinary people who haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t been charged with any crime, but
\nrefuse absolute obedience to cops acting like common bullies. Those paying
\nattention know that there has been an epidemic of such attacks this year, the
\nmost recent being on a driver in Utah who declined to sign a traffic ticket and
\nwanted proof that he had been speeding (innocent until proven guilty,
\ncorrect?). If this bill becomes law, police militancy will increase, but with
\nincidents sufficiently widely dispersed that few residents will detect the
\npattern, organize, and demand a stop to it. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sec. 899C of the
\nH.R. 1955\/S. 1959 would establish a National Commission on the Prevention of
\nViolent Radicalization and Ideologically Based Violence within the legislative
\nbranch. The Commission will consist of ten members appointed by federal
\nofficials including the president and the Secretary of Homeland Security. The
\nbill commands the Commission in mind-numbingly repetitious language: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Examine
\nand report upon the facts and causes of violent radicalization, homegrown
\nterrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States, including
\nUnited States connections to non-United States persons and networks, violent
\nradicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in
\nprison, individual or \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclone wolf\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism,
\nand ideologically based violence, and other faces of the phenomena of violent
\nradicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence that the
\nCommission considers important.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Commission
\nwould convene and conduct \u00e2\u20ac\u0153studies\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for 18 months. Very possibly it will rely
\non such biased sources as the Marxist Southern Poverty Law Center\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\nIntelligence Project, which bills itself as the gold standard for monitoring
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153hate groups\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153extremist\u00e2\u20ac\u009d activity on U.S. soil. During this period,
\ngrassroots political groups could find themselves compelled for their own
\nprotection to do the equivalent of background checks on new members and
\nrecruits. Some would doubtless be spies sent by the SPLC or the federal
\ngovernment itself. They would also have to watch what they send out via email,
\nor place on their websites. Big Brother would be watching\u00e2\u20ac\u201despecially anything
\nsent to or received from persons based overseas. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sec. 899D
\ncreates a Center of Excellence for the Study of Violent Radicalization and
\nHomegrown Terrorism in the United States. This Center would be
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153university-based,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d suggesting intent to pull academia into subservience. The
\nlure, of course, will be Homeland Security dollars. The result will be more
\ninfiltration and more academic thought control, this time in the guise of the
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153war on terror.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Findings
\nsection ends: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Certain governments, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and
\nAustralia have significant experience with homegrown terrorism and the United
\nStates can benefit from lessons learned by those nations.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Articles\u00e2\u20ac\u201don the
\nInternet, of course\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhave been appearing regularly on how the U.K is becoming a
\ntotal surveillance state, with cameras watching the movements of civilians
\neverywhere. Is our government to emulate the U.K.? All three societies are
\nslightly further down the road to police-state conditions than we are. Is that
\nwhy they are suggested as good models for those who would carry out the
\nmandates of H.R. 1955\/S. 1959? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sec. 899E
\nelaborates: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153International Effort\u00e2\u20ac\u201dThe Secretary shall, in cooperation with the
\nDepartment of State, the Attorney General, and other Federal Government
\nentities, as appropriate, conduct a survey of methodologies implemented by
\nforeign nations to prevent violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism in
\ntheir respective nations.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In other words, our federal government is to study
\nforeign police states in order to build a better police state on U.S. soil.
\nOnly, however, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[t]o the extent that methodologies are permissible under the
\nConstitution \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

If anyone at the
\nfederal level except perhaps Ron Paul had read the bill, they would realize
\nthat by its very nature it is unconstitutional. Nothing in the Constitution
\nauthorizes our federal government to model policies on those of governments
\nelsewhere in the world\u00e2\u20ac\u201dor to conduct the kind of domestic infiltrations and
\nsurveillance this bill would require. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sec. 899F, in
\nlight of all the above, is almost comical. Are you ready? Here it comes: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The
\nDepartment of Homeland Security\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s efforts to prevent ideologically based
\nviolence and homegrown terrorism as described herein shall not violate the
\nconstitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of United States
\ncitizens or lawful permanent residents.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

George Orwell
\ncouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have said it better! <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the
\nmillion dollar question: what prompted this bill?<\/em> The only event in
\nrecent years that can be labeled \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorism\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u201dgiven the federal
\ngovernment\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pronouncements as our only criterion\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwas the destruction of the
\nMurrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The federal government executed Timothy
\nMcVeigh for that on July 14, 2001. Even in that case there are unanswered
\nquestions. But while Internet-based claims persist that McVeigh had accomplices
\nother than Terry Nichols, none are officially recognized. Other attacks on U.S.
\nsoil (World Trade Center 1993 and, of course, the 9\/11 attacks) are blamed on
\nforeigners. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

So again: what
\nprompted this bill?<\/em> <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

There is only
\none plausible answer. H.R. 1955\/S. 1959\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s unnamed target is the independent
\nPatriot movement.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

By the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcPatriot
\nmovement\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 I mean red-blooded Americans who proudly defend gun rights, and will
\ntell you why: an armed populace is a free populace. They have turned off their
\ntelevisions and tuned out corporate-controlled media. They have removed their
\nchildren from government schools. Many are men and women of modest means at
\nbest\u00e2\u20ac\u201dsome are living from paycheck to paycheck\u00e2\u20ac\u201dand are sick and tired of
\nbromides on behalf of NAFTA\/CAFTA\/FTAA, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153free trade\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153globalization,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d when
\nthey have seen none of the supposed benefits. They are aware that today savings
\nare nonexistent, while bankruptcies and foreclosures are at all-time highs.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

They know,
\nmoreover, that the federal government and its controlled media lie brazenly
\nwith a cooked inflation figure, a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153core inflation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d rate that excludes food and

And they can
\ncite the claim of Alan Blinder, former deputy chairman of the Federal Reserve,
\nthat things are going to get worse for the domestic economy\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmuch worse!. In his
\nview, offered last May, the U.S. could lose between 30 million and 40 million
\nmore jobs to offshoring over the next generation as global corporations pursue
\nthe cheapest labor they can find. For Americans, entire occupations will be
\nwiped out and replaced with nothing. America will become a third-world country,
\nas U.S. workers\u00e2\u20ac\u201dincluding many well-educated professionals\u00e2\u20ac\u201dgo pinwheeling over
\nthe economic cliff. Disruptions now go hand-in-hand with World Trade
\nOrganization meetings. With the growing popularity of commentators like Lou
\nDobbs, we could see organized resistance to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153free trade\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153globalization\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nhere at home in the future. Patriots have views of their own on the true state
\nof the U.S. economy that do not reflect official propaganda about \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclow
\ninflation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclow unemployment.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 They are taking the long view. They have
\nbeen investing in precious metals, including the Liberty Dollar\u00e2\u20ac\u201drecently
\ntargeted for a federal government raid. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Patriots might
\nalso ask pesky questions like, How can the Bush Administration claim to be
\nfighting a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153war on terror\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with our borders wide open and still allowing
\nthousands of illegal aliens into this country every day. (Newsflash: not all
\nillegal aliens are Mexican.) They have some pretty good ideas why those in
\npower refuse to secure our borders. They are aware of the stealth effort to
\nfold this country into a North American Union with a new fiat currency, the
\namero, intended to replace our debauched dollar. The integration of Mexicans
\nwith a squatter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mindset into the economies of our cities and towns will
\nfurther drive the third-worldization of America as it drives down American
\nwages. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Many Patriots
\nbelieve we should stop fighting foreign wars where only corporate interests
\n(and Israeli interests, not American interests) are at stake. No one, after
\nall, ever showed that Saddam Hussein was a threat to us. Nor has Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Mahmoud
\nAhmadinejad threatened us (he has threatened Israel). <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Among Patriots
\nare those who question the legality and Constitutionality of the federal income
\ntax collected annually by the IRS. They are aware of the shady history of the
\nFederal Reserve Corporation. Many can name names to go along with the otherwise
\nvague \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcpower elite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 label: Rothschild, Rockefeller, Warburg, Morgan, Schiff,
\nAldrich, Harriman, Brzezinski, Kissinger, and so on. Some Patriots would like
\nto see an independent investigation into what really happened on 9\/11. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In short, the
\nindependent Patriot movement completely rejects the direction this country has
\nbeen going in since the Reagan-Bush era during which globalism took a quantum
\nleap culminating in NAFTA, and has been accelerating ever since. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Reading H.R.
\n1955\/S. 1959, Patriots will have still more unwanted questions. Is rejecting
\nthe official consensus on the health and direction of the U.S. economy the same
\nas \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcterrorist-related propaganda\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? Is a person who documents points of view
\nonline that dissent from the Bush Administration\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s stay-the-course policy on
\nthe Iraq War a potential \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122? Are the groups associated with
\nthe many websites offering alternatives to corporate media about to be labeled
\nsuch, as a precursor to controls over our online activities and demands for
\nunquestioned support for federal (and globalist) policy? These may sound like
\nrhetorical questions, but the wording of H.R. 1955\/S. 1959 is so open-ended we
\nhave no alternative. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Patriots are
\naware, finally, that all except for two or possibly three of next year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\ncontenders for the presidency are members of, or are controlled by, the
\nCFR\/Trilateralist\/Bilderburg axis, and fear another pseudo-choice between
\nGlobalist Candidate A and Globalist Candidate B. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Patriot
\nmovement clearly threatens the lust for power that captured Rome on the Potomac
\nafter 9\/11, and it threatens the greed of global corporate predators who place
\nprofits ahead not just of the livelihoods of ordinary Americans but of U.S.
\nsovereignty itself. Moreover, while much of the country of course remains in
\nits television-induced stupor, the Patriot movement is growing. Within it are
\narticulate voices who recognize that behind both is the power elite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s drive for
\na world government, for which global \u00e2\u20ac\u0153free trade\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153capitalism\u00e2\u20ac\u009d are Trojan
\nhorses. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Patriots,
\nmoreover, are not powerless. They may look powerless as they meet and plan in
\nthe back room of the local Denny\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. But they definitely did a number on the
\nbadly wanted (by the power elite) amnesty-for-illegal-aliens effort\u00e2\u20ac\u201dgrassroots
\nefforts stopped amnesty-for-illegals four times this year, as irate callers
\nshut down Congressional switchboards and floods of emails crashed servers! Patriots
\nare not a bunch of peons who can simply be told by government officials to keep
\ntheir mouths shut!<\/em> In the event of, e.g., a strike on Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u201despecially in
\nthe wake of the ongoing catastrophe in Iraq\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthese people are bound to be
\ntrouble, as are many other groups who oppose foreign wars for different
\nreasons. They will be trouble if Cintra, a foreign corporation, persists in
\nbuilding a NAFTA Superhighway. Organized resistance has already emerged in
\nTexas and Oklahoma against the NAFTA Superhighway system, which would take
\nhundreds of thousands of acres of land through post-Kelo eminent domain.
\nCintra\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s contract is supposed to run for 50 years! <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The feds can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t
\njust \u00e2\u20ac\u0153go after\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Patriots and antiwar groups, though\u00e2\u20ac\u201dnot without giving away
\ntheir hand. Hence evil bills like this one to relabel their activities as
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown terrorism,\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 serving as potential domestic preemptive strikes against
\npossible civil unrest. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Obviously, H.R.
\n1955\/S. 1959 will do nothing to protect Americans against real terrorism. What
\nit should do is raise the question of who protects Americans from their own
\ngovernment? The bottom line is that if this bill is rushed through the Senate
\nand signed by President Bush, it raises the specter of anyone dissenting from
\nofficial national and international policy being labeled a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown
\nterrorist.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Coupled with earlier abominations like the Military Commissions
\nAct, the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, and Presidential Directive NSPD
\n51\/HSPD-20\u00e2\u20ac\u009d signed by Bush on May 9 of this year\u00e2\u20ac\u201dall of which will be inherited
\nby Bush\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s successor\u00e2\u20ac\u201dPatriots can see that our present direction is toward
\ntotalitarian rule by brute force, with dissent and alternative voices and
\nproducts being ruthlessly suppressed. Just two weeks ago we saw the
\nabove-mentioned raid on Liberty Dollar headquarters. Even as it destroys the
\nvalue of our fiat currency, the Federal Reserve Corporation doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want the
\ncompetition. H.R. 1955\/S. 1959 could lead to the coerced shutting down of
\nalternative news sites on the Internet, the end of alternative newspapers and
\ntalk radio shows, culminating in federal raids on the residences of known
\npatriots (in the case of Patriots who question the legality and
\nConstitutionality of the federal income tax this has already happened). <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally\u00e2\u20ac\u201dH.R.
\n1955\/S. 1959\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Sec. 899C stipulates, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the Commission may, to such extent and in
\nsuch amounts as are provided in appropriation Acts, enter into contracts to
\nenable the Commission to discharge its duties under this section.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In other words,
\nthe Commission may hire private contractors to identify and isolate \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchomegrown
\nterrorists.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Blackwater, the increasingly notorious private army, comes to
\nmind. Should we see a power elite caused economic crisis with tens of thousands
\nof suddenly unemployed people taking to the streets protesting globalist
\npolicy, will federal officials contract with Blackwater to engage in a little
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153crowd control\u00e2\u20ac\u009d? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Four hundred and
\nfour members of our House of Representatives voted for this abomination (219
\nDemocrats and 185 Republicans). Six votes were cast against it (split three and
\nthree). This overwhelming bipartisan support speaks volumes about where the
\npresent Congress stands\u00e2\u20ac\u201dand about the absence of any substantive difference
\nbetween the two divisions of the Rome on the Potomac Party.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

H.R. 1955\/S.
