Suddenly,
\nwe are told, the man from Hope is blitzing up the Iowa polls. No, not the
\nArkansas slime ball and rapist, not Bill Clinton; the other man from Hope, Mike
\nHuckabee. Hope is a town that, man for man, probably produces more candidates
\nfor President than any other. If all this new support for Huckabee is real,
\nwhere is it coming from? It is coming from the Religious Right. Huckabee after
\nall is a Baptist preacher. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Some
\nRon Paul people lament the fact that the Religious Right does not support him.
\nAfter all, doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t Ron support what they do? Isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t Dr. No the foremost
\ncandidate for President in either party who advocates the restoration of
\nconstitutional liberty, getting the government out of our lives and off our
\nbacks? In foreign policy, doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t he alone advocate minding our own business,
\nbringing our troops home and staying out of the war? Why has the Religious
\nRight so obviously snubbed him almost without consideration? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

What
\nnot enough Pauliticians understand \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and need to \u00e2\u20ac\u201c is that the Religious Right
\nhas vigorously rejected Dr. No not for some other reason, but precisely because
\nof these positions he espouses<\/em>. The Religious Right rejects Ron Paul precisely
\nbecause<\/em> he stands for Christian liberty and the Religious Right stands for
\na perversion of Christianity I called Imperial
\nReligion<\/span><\/a> in a previous piece. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Yes,
\nDr. Paul is a staunch Christian himself. Yes, he opposes baby killing and never
\nhas killed one, despite four thousand chances, the number of babies he has
\ndelivered so far as a ladies\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 physician. But Dr. No does not wear his religion
\non his sleeve. He doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t boast about it. He puts it this way: <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I
\nhave never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political
\narena. In fact, the pandering that typically occurs in the election season I
\nfind to be distasteful. But for those who have asked, I freely confess that
\nJesus Christ is my personal Savior, and that I seek His guidance in all that I
\ndo.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

But
\nthis is exactly not what the Religious Right wants. It wants someone who is
\nconstantly spouting off about it, making a show, appearing at the church
\nmeeting hall with a Bible as big as the Internal Revenue Code under his arm,
\nlike Clinton. It doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want someone modest, like true Christian Ron Paul. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed,
\nDr. No continues: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d rather my views and my convictions and my faith be shown
\nby my actions rather than [by] what I say\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6. also, the part in the bible about
\nnot showing off\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re instructed to pray quietly \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6. [and] not to play big
\nfanfare. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m trying to strike something in between there; where I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not bashful
\nand ashamed of it, at the same time I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to look like others who . . .
\nlook to get votes because they were willing to say and do something in public.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Please
\nread my piece entitled Imperial Religion<\/span><\/a> again. It will dispel any
\nmystery about why the Religious Right has contemptuously rejected Dr. Paul. The
\nReligious Right is the product of a satanic perversion of Christianity, satanic
\nbecause it attempts to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improve\u00e2\u20ac\u009d upon God. Satan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s rebellion is equally an
\nattempt to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improve\u00e2\u20ac\u009d upon God. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

God
\nhas given us the Kingdom, but victims in the throes of this perversion believe
\nit isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t good enough and they know better. Eaten up by pride, they want big
\npreachers, big buildings with their names in big letters, big money, big cars,
\nbig planes and big hair. God says He does all \u00e2\u20ac\u201c all \u00e2\u20ac\u201c all the soul saving for
\neternal life, but consumed by themselves they are competing with Him to see who
\ncan save more. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A
\npreacher once told me he routinely \u00e2\u20ac\u0153saved\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (arranged eternal life for) 30,000
\nsouls a month. What kind of government would such spiritual megalomania
\nproduce? Certainly not a government of limited powers like the one the Founding
\nFathers bequeathed us. On the contrary, a man who can arrange eternal life for
\nthat many people would want a correspondingly big government, an all-powerful,
\ncentralized government to use as a weapon to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improve\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the Kingdom. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

You
\nhave probably noticed in this rendition a powerful similarity between the
\nReligious Right and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153liberals\u00e2\u20ac\u009d like the Clintons and other Far Left poseurs.
\nYou are not mistaken. The similarity is there. The Religious Right and the Far
\nLeft are the two sides of one coin. The Far Left too is trying to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improve.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nThe \u00e2\u20ac\u0153difference\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is that they don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t call their target \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the Kingdom\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and they
\ndon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mention God. Other differences are superficial matters of personality and
\nstyle. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Could
\nthat be a reason so many people find \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Christianity\u00e2\u20ac\u009d repulsive? They think it is
\nChristianity that rightly repels them, but it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t. It is a perverted
\nimitation, Imperial Religion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s overweening hauteur. Remember that from the
\nbeginning government by men has been a curse, brought to us by ancestors of
\ntoday\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153liberals,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d who were dissatisfied with government by God. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

God
\ngoverned directly through his judges, but some \u00e2\u20ac\u0153liberals\u00e2\u20ac\u009d among the children
\nwhined that they wanted a king. God warned them in detail what a king would do,
\nbut they kept whining, while the rest of the children merely watched. So God,
\never gracious, gave them what they wanted. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ever
\nsince, government has done exactly as God warned. How could He know? How did
\nGod get so smart? Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a clue: He created the universe, everything there is,
\nand didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need our help. Today, to justify themselves, the descendants of the
\ngovernment-worshippers say Romans 13 means exactly the opposite of what it
\nsays. They say it means obedience to government no matter what it does. Really?
\nThen why does God keep overthrowing, even killing, governments that disobey His
\ncommandments? As I asked in another piece on Romans 13: Is God a Nazi? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

That
\nis why it is so important to recognize what the Religious Right is, to see it
\nwith new eyes. Both the Religious Right and the Far Left share the desire to
\nuse government as a weapon to impose obedience and behavior. That is why the
\nReligious Right, like the Far Left, rejects Dr. Paul. Where the tires hit the
\ntrack, they are the same. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Compare
\nthat to what Dr. Paul says: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We believe that at the root of most of our troubles
\ntoday is the misguided and discredited philosophy of an all-powerful
\ngovernment, ceaselessly striving to subsidize, manipulate, and control
\nindividuals. The essence of freedom is the right of law-abiding individuals to
\nlife, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness without undue governmental
\nintervention.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Notice
\nany difference? Indeed, Dr. No, living up to his nickname, says he \u00e2\u20ac\u0153supports
\nderegulation by the federal government of public education, and encourages the
\nelimination of the federal Department of Education.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Wow, outright elimination!
\nWouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t that be somewhat \u00e2\u20ac\u0153extreme?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t kiddos in the nation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Communist
\ngovernment schools wind up even more illiterate than they already are? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Whoa!
\nHold on! Did I say Dr. No said all that? No, friends, that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wrong, sorry, I
\nmade a mistake. What you just read are excerpts from the July, 1980 Republican
\nParty Platform in Detroit. I was there. But when I mistakenly said Dr. No said
\nit you believed me. Why? Because he says the same thing! He is smack in the mainstream
\nof the so-called Reagan Republican Party. That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the Party the Religious Right
\nis supposed to adore. The 1980 Convention was the one that nominated Reagan. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Now
\nlet\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s look at this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Religious Right candidate. Like Clinton, he comes
\nfrom Hope. Like Clinton, he plays a musical instrument. Bill, as you know,
\nplays the sexaphone (sic), Mike the guitar. Like Bill, Mike staunchly believes.
\nYou say you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe Bill believes? Ask him. Hey, could you lift the Bible
\nhe carries to church? Sure, Mike is a preacher, Bill technically is not, but he
\nsure knows how to use what Teddy Roosevelt called the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153bully pulpit.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally,
\nMike, like Bill, fervently believes in using the power of all-powerful
\ngovernment to impose the will of God. Did you know that Mike Huckabee would use
\nthe federal government to ban smoking? To me, that says it all. Does he know he
\nis running for President, not health commissioner, and as President would be
\ngoverned by the Constitution? Where in the Constitution does it even remotely give
\nthe federal government power to ban smoking? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Remember
\nthat preachers in colonial Virginia were paid in tobacco. Tobacco was money. In
\na famous case, the preachers went to court and sued. In effect, they wanted
\nmore tobacco. They lost because of the legal machinations of the silver-tongued
\ncounsel who opposed them, a business failure who had been the town bum and
\nlogically became a lawyer, a guy named Patrick Henry. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

President
\nNo would not even try to ban smoking. As President, he wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have the power
\nand would figure it was none of his business anyway. Remember also that the
\nonly world leader who succeeded in banning smoking in his country was \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the
\nenvelope please \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Adolf Hitler. Adolf was a staunch believer in big, paternal
\ngovernment \u00e2\u20ac\u201c government that does everything for you and to you \u00e2\u20ac\u201c totalitarian
\ngovernment. Isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t that what dictatorship means? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Why
\nwould a President Mike ban smoking? Because it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bad for health. Recently, in
\npreparation for his presidential campaign, he lost 100 pounds by eating right.
\nAs President, would he ban eating wrong because, that, too, is bad for health?
\nThe question is legitimate. Some groups have demanded exactly that, including
\npunishment for people who are not acceptably svelte. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Because
\nhe is a Christian, Dr. No staunchly opposes abortion. He also recognizes that
\nas President in our system of checks and balances he would lack the power to
\nban it. The Constitution says not a word on the subject, maybe because it never
\noccurred to the Founders that anyone could be crazy enough to try to make it
\nlegal. It is something for the states to decide, not a federal issue. That is
\nwhy we have states. But President Huckabee would not let the states make that
\ndecision. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Under
\nMike Huckabee, Arkansas saw a 37 percent increase in sales tax, a 16 percent
\nincrease in gas tax and a monster 103 percent increase in cigarette taxes.
\nAccording to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, the state
\nsuffered a net tax increase of $505 million under Huckabee. With Mike as governor,
\nstate spending exploded more than 65% between 1996 and 2004, which just
\nhappened to be more than three times the inflation rate. State debt rose by
\nalmost one billion dollars and the number of government workers rose 20%. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

So,
\nMike would use gobs of your money to tweak and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improve\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the Kingdom. He
\nbelieves the government should be a caring, strict parent. He endorses more
\ngovernment money for health care and government housing. He is so hostile to
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153conservatives\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that as governor he kept many top Clinton agency heads. Mike
\nHuckabee reveres government. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

American
\nSpectator<\/span><\/em>
\nreports that Huckabee has also been investigated fourteen times and officially
\nreprimanded five times by the state Ethics Commission, a respected,
\nnon-partisan body. MSNBC says there were many other scandals. Greg Pierce says
\nin the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153conservative\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Washington Times<\/em> that Mike \u00e2\u20ac\u0153used public money for
\nfamily restaurant meals, boat expenses, and other personal uses. He tried to
\nclaim as his own some $70,000 of furniture donated to the governor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mansion. .
\n. .\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Which recalls the departing Clintons cleaning out the White House. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It
\ngets worse. With regard to the illegal alien invasion, Mike Huckabee makes el
\npresidente<\/em> Jorge W. Boosh look like a foaming xenophobe. Mike wants amnesty
\nand free college scholarships for illegal aliens. He has actually compared
\nillegal aliens, who break into our country, to black slaves who were brought
\nhere in chains. Mike denounced a bill that would have prevented illegal aliens
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201c foreigners here illegally \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from voting or receiving state benefits. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Huckabee
\nexplained that companies like Toyota would not invest in Arkansas if the state
\ndidn’t allow non-citizens to vote, because it would \u00e2\u20ac\u0153send the message that,
\nessentially, if you don’t look like us, talk like us and speak like us, we
\ndon’t want you.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the men who run the biggest, most successful auto
\ncompany in the world be smart enough to know that people in Little Rock
\nwouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t look, talk and speak like people in Tokyo? <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

And
\ndon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t we at least have the right to expect a President of the United States,
\neven a governor of Arkansas, to have some concept of law? Notice that Mike
\nHuckabee doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t seem to have one. Does he know that illegal aliens are
\nillegal? But guess what? Now that he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s running for President, Mike at least
\ntemporarily is in favor of securing our borders. Indeed, Mike even has a plan.
\nIn a recent radio ad, he explained, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153My plan to secure the border? Two words:
\nChuck Norris.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

I
\nshould warn you that no one on this planet is a bigger Chuck Norris fan than I
\nam. I am always there, covering his back, when he terminates a man with extreme
\nprejudice, or rescues a POW or power kicks an Islamic terrorist. Chuck is
\nprobably a perfect example of a true Christian beguiled into supporting
\nHuckabee because the Religious Right says Mike is one too. Chuck, she is the
\nwhore of Babylon. Come out of her and be ye separate. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

You
\nmay wonder why the Religious Right would support Mike in spite of all this. If
\nyou do, you miss the point. They support him because of it<\/em>. They could
\nwind up inserting him as running mate on a Giuliani or Romney ticket. They
\nwould argue that, unlike Mitt, Mike has never promoted sodomy, and unlike Rudy,
\nit is Mrs. Huckabee alone who wears the ladies\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 lingerie in the family.
\nRemember that Rudy favors wall-to-wall abortion. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nthe way, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get the idea that I have something against Arkansas. I love
\nArkansas. First, I love Arkansas because its team is called the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153hogs.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d During
\na game, I love to yell, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hear it for the hogs!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Second, when a dear
\nfriend of mine who knows about such things wants to convey that a man is really
\nwell known, not just a minor celebrity, but really world famous, he says, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why,
\nthis man is known throughout the United States and parts of Arkansas.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally,
\nit was in Arkansas that I met the Love Priestess. I was speaking at a youth
\ncamp, when suddenly I became aware of a finger thrusting at my nose and a voice
\nyelling, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Who do you think you are?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t very bright in those days, but I
\nwas smart enough to recognize immediately that this was wife material. But that
\nis another story for another day. So, I love Arkansas. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Today,
\nthe most important thing I hope to leave with you is that the Religious Right
\nis not at all what it pretends, that it is a spiritual perversion, that it is
\nin fact a malevolent, totalitarian force, that it has betrayed America and
\nChristianity for many years, and that in its choice of Mike Huckabee it is
\ngetting ready to do so again.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nour liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into
