Huckabee is doing especially well in Iowa, particularly among<br \/>\nevangelicals. Is Mike Huckabee worthy of this support, however? The facts say<br \/>\nno. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>I have already<br \/>\nattempted to warn my evangelical brethren as to the dangers of supporting Mike<br \/>\nHuckabee. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newswithviews.com\/baldwin\/baldwin411.htm\">See<br \/>\nhere<\/a>. However, that first column was just the tip of the proverbial<br \/>\niceberg. Here are more reasons to beware of Mike Huckabee. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Robert Novak<br \/>\nrecently wrote a column about Mike Huckabee entitled, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/11\/25\/AR2007112501547_pf.html\">The<br \/>\nFalse Conservative<\/a>.&#8221; In the column he said, &#8220;Huckabee is<br \/>\ncampaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a<br \/>\nhigh-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval<br \/>\nOffice directing the lives of Americans.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Novak also<br \/>\nsaid, &#8220;There is no doubt about Huckabee&#8217;s record during a decade in Little<br \/>\nRock as governor. . . He increased the Arkansas <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DaJW7nXw30A\">tax burden by 47 percent,<br \/>\nboosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes<\/a>.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Novak continued<br \/>\nsaying, &#8220;Quin Hillyer, a former Arkansas journalist writing in the<br \/>\nconservative American Spectator, called Huckabee &#8216;a guy with a thin skin, a<br \/>\nnasty vindictive streak.&#8217; Huckabee&#8217;s retort was to attack Hillyer&#8217;s<br \/>\njournalistic procedures, fitting a mean-spirited image when he responds to<br \/>\nconservative criticism.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Calling<br \/>\nHuckabee a proponent of big-government is an understatement. &#8220;If you<br \/>\nlisten closely, all the things he supports increase the size, power and cost of<br \/>\ngovernment. From subsidies for energy research to increasing money for health<br \/>\ncare and government housing, the size, power, and cost of government will not<br \/>\nshrink under a President Mike Huckabee; they will increase . . . Mr. Huckabee<br \/>\nswore an oath to support and defend the Constitution when he became governor, yet<br \/>\nmany of his proposals are clearly unconstitutional.&#8221; (Source: David<br \/>\nUlrich, Letter of the Week, World Net Daily, 10\/26\/07) <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>In addition,<br \/>\nDr. Jerome Corsi reports that &#8220;Financial inducements arranged by former<br \/>\nArkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to establish a Mexican consular office in Little<br \/>\nRock may have violated state law, according to an Arkansas attorney.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Writing for<br \/>\nWorld Net Daily, Dr. Corsi exposed the fact that Mike Huckabee &#8220;worked<br \/>\nwith some of the state&#8217;s most prominent and politically powerful businesses to<br \/>\nestablish the [Mexican] consulate as a magnet for drawing illegal immigrants to<br \/>\nthe state to accept low-paying jobs.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Corsi goes on<br \/>\nto report that &#8220;Arkansas attorney Chip Sexton provided WND a written legal<br \/>\nbrief arguing the state government&#8217;s sublease to Mexico of office space for the<br \/>\nconsulate was illegal under Arkansas law. Sexton contended the deal raised<br \/>\nquestions about the appropriateness of private citizens and corporations in<br \/>\nArkansas providing financial incentives for the government of Mexico to locate<br \/>\na consulate office in Little Rock.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Corsi also<br \/>\nwrites that &#8220;Robert Trevino, commissioner of Arkansas Rehabilitation<br \/>\nServices, told WND he and Huckabee helped arrange state and private financial<br \/>\nsupport to induce Mexico to establish the consulate as a business development<br \/>\n&#8216;quid pro quo.&#8217; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>&#8220;Trevino<br \/>\nsigned on July 7, 2006, a &#8216;Facilities Use Agreement&#8217; with Mexican consular<br \/>\nofficials to rent state government office space for $1 a year on the second<br \/>\nfloor of the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services building at 26 Corporate Hills in<br \/>\nLittle Rock.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>According to<br \/>\nSexton, not only did subleasing state government offices to Mexico violate<br \/>\nArkansas state law under Ark. Code Ann. 22-2-114(C)(i) which provides:<br \/>\n&#8220;After July 1, 1975, no state agency shall enter into or renew or<br \/>\notherwise negotiate a lease between itself as lessor or lessee and a<br \/>\nnongovernmental or other government lessor or lessee,&#8221; but it was even<br \/>\nmore offensive in that &#8220;there was nothing in the lease or other agreements<br \/>\nthat would have prevented the Mexican consulate from providing legal assistance<br \/>\nto illegal aliens.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>In addition,<br \/>\nCorsi also exposed the fact that Mike Huckabee worked with Mexican President<br \/>\nVicente Fox to help provide cheap Mexican labor for Tyson foods and other large<br \/>\nArkansas corporations. According to Corsi, &#8220;Trevino confirmed he was state<br \/>\ndirector of the League of United Latin American Citizens, also known as LULAC,<br \/>\nan activist group strongly advocating for the rights of Hispanic immigrants in<br \/>\nthe U.S., when on Oct. 3, 2003, he accompanied Huckabee in a state airplane to<br \/>\nvisit [President Vicente] Fox in Mexico.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>There is more. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>The American<br \/>\nSpectator reported that &#8220;Fourteen times, the ethics commission&#8211;a<br \/>\nrespected body, not a partisan witch-hunt group&#8211;investigated claims against<br \/>\nHuckabee. Five of those times, it officially reprimanded him. And as only MSNBC<br \/>\namong the big national media has reported at an real length, there were lots of<br \/>\nother mini-scandals and embarrassments along the way.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Plus, writing<br \/>\nfor The Washington Times, Greg Pierce quoted Hillyer as saying,<br \/>\n&#8220;[Huckabee] used public money for family restaurant meals, boat expenses,<br \/>\nand other personal uses. He tried to claim as his own some $70,000 of furniture<br \/>\ndonated to the governor&#8217;s mansion. He repeatedly, and obstinately, against the<br \/>\npleadings even from conservative columnists and editorials, refused to divulge<br \/>\nthe names of donors to a &#8216;charitable&#8217; organization he set up while lieutenant<br \/>\ngovernor&#8211;an outfit whose main charitable purpose seemed to be to pay Huckabee<br \/>\nto make speeches. Then, as a kicker, he misreported the income itself from the<br \/>\nsuspicious &#8216;charity.'&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Mike Huckabee&#8217;s<br \/>\nbeliefs and actions even border on the bizarre. According to David Keene,<br \/>\nChairman of the American Conservative Union, &#8220;GOP presidential wannabe<br \/>\nMike Huckabee suggested that as president he would, for the good of the people,<br \/>\nsupport a federal anti-smoking law. You see, as governor, Huckabee supported<br \/>\nsuch laws because, well, he doesn&#8217;t like smoking and doesn&#8217;t think folks should<br \/>\nindulge in so heath-threatening an activity. If he could move on up to the<br \/>\npresidency, he would continue his abolitionist crusade at the national level<br \/>\nwithout giving much, if any, thought to the question of whether the<br \/>\nConstitution or anything else would legitimize a federal ban on smoking.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>I have yet one<br \/>\nmore word of warning for those evangelicals supporting Huckabee because he is<br \/>\npro-life: Mike Huckabee will most definitely support Rudy Giuliani should<br \/>\nGiuliani obtain the Republican nomination. Count on it.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"> <\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>I ask you, how<br \/>\ncould a committed &#8220;pro-life&#8221; conservative support a pro-abortion,<br \/>\npro-gay rights, pro-gun control liberal such as Rudy Giuliani? He couldn&#8217;t. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>At the end of<br \/>\nthe day, however, there is absolutely no question that Huckabee will support<br \/>\nGiuliani (or any other pro-abortion Republican), because, when all is said and<br \/>\ndone, Huckabee and his fellow big-government Republicans have no real<br \/>\ncommitment to the life issue or to any other conservative principle.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"> <\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Let&#8217;s say it<br \/>\nplainly: Mike Huckabee is just another big-government, establishment politician<br \/>\nwho will do nothing to stem the tide of socialism or fascism (pick your poison)<br \/>\nemanating from Washington, D.C., these days. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Georgia\",\"serif\";'>Dear Christian<br \/>\nfriend, don&#8217;t be duped by Mike Huckabee.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"> <\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; http:\/\/www.newswithviews.com\/baldwin\/baldwin414.htm &nbsp; MORE REASONS TO BEWARE OF MIKE HUCKABEE &nbsp; &nbsp; By Pastor Chuck Baldwin November 27, 2007 NewsWithViews.com Many Christian conservatives see Mike Huckabee as the best candidate to deliver the GOP from an impending pro-abortion presidential nomination of either Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney.
