City government Rabbit Hole

The Rabbit Hole of Indoctrination and Politically Correct city government             April 17, 2011

The Fort Smith Board of Directors brought a new level of politically correct absurdity and nonsense to their Saturday “Retreat” in Wonderland. There is no question that our Directors are physically adults.  The real questions are, are they mentally immature, ignorant, stupid, complicit, or just pleasing their suitors and/or enablers?

The just completed politically correct exercise really brings into question the maturity and rationality of the participants.  Designating Directors as ‘Creators, Advancers, Refiners, Executors, & Flexers” is right out of the government P. C. playbook, which ultimately produces automatons/egalitarians.

The aforementioned “categories” reminds of the various donation levels for a college sports team.

Ron Holifield who “facilitated” (staged) this charade, e.g. “Advancers are those who communicate new ideas, carry them forward, and manage the human part of any solution”.   Can anyone tell what “managing the human part of any solution” means?  He nominated Directors Hutchings, Pam Weber & Phil Merry as Advancers.  Mr. Holifield, please tell us the new ideas that any of the three of these have communicated.

Now comes “Flexers who have an equal preference for all roles and can often adapt their styles to fit the team’s needs”.  Director Good was a recipient of this auspicious title which simply says he feels strongly both ways or will hunt with any ole dog.  Frankly, Director Good should be mad as the devil for having this title hung round his neck.

Times Record reporter Ben Boulden wrote this doublespeak and failed to define why Ron Holifield classifies himself as a consultant with Strategic Government Resources (taxes) and what exactly is Strategic Government Resources and what was the cost to Fort Smith taxpayers for bringing Mr. Holifield to town to put on his production.  This whole affair smacks of fiscal irresponsibility.

It should be noted that Directors should tell taxpaying Fort Smith citizens why we need an assistant City Manager, what the cost was to hire a search firm to locate candidates for the position of assistant city manager, and why in all likelihood would they hire any of the three that have reached the finals.  Administrator Gossack is obviously dictating the tenor of business in the Fort Smith city government—a huge mistake.

Furthermore; if each of them were genuinely interested in the future of Fort Smith, they would spend their time dealing with the soon to be defunct Convention Center and its many substantive potential uses, and at the same time would morally and constitutionally allow citizens to vote on the contentious issue of increased food taxes, and invasions of profit & loss statements of privately owned businesses, which can only be described as vulgar and unlawful. The fact that some of these Directors are willing to launch a new tax in these times of economic distress is outrageous. This ain’t Wonderland.

Congratulations to Director George Catsavis for not participating in the Saturday Mad Hatter event.

Voodoo Economics?

To the Fort Smith Mayor & City Directors:                                                                             February 20, 2011

Let’s all do the Convention Center math; including all that was left out.

Mr. Jim Kolettis, Convention Center Commission, said the proposed 1% food tax is projected to bring in $960,000 in EXCESS of the shortfall, which is $1.1 million. Using the $1.1 million needed to keep the C.C. afloat, the sum of the two would equal $2,060,000 in new revenue.   City figures state that the Convention Center creates revenues of $750,000 per year, which amounts to revenues of $2,760,000 PER YEAR, of that sum $1,710,000 is NEW revenue, over and beyond the $1.1 million needed yearly.

A ½ % tax would generate approximately $1 million per year and added to the $750,000 the C.C. generates produces a surplus of $650,000 per year.

Mayor Sanders said “some of the money above the operational cost of the facility will be spent on purchasing a ticketing system (a one-time expense) as well as a plan to expand parking”. He goes on to say “that will cost at least several hundreds of thousands of dollars” No!  City officials stated in March, 2010 that the cost of expanding the parking lot would be $250,000 (a one-time expense).

Question of the day: Other than the one time expenditures of expanded parking and a ticketing system, what happens to the $1,710,000 YEARLY SURPLUS  thereafter?

Claude Legris, speaking as a self-serving bureaucrat, said that the ½ % tax would be “nickel-and-diming it like it has been”.  (See above)  Legris, how many private sector jobs have you ever created?  You know, the ones forced to pay for your bills?

The only thing the C.C. has to brag about is The Jehovah Witness’s one week encampment. Director Steve Tyler said the Board is committed to keeping the C.C. open.  What about the wishes of the people who are paying for it Dir. Tyler?

City Manager Gosack said (this is a laugher)”the Board could scale it (the 1% tax) back or repeal it quickly on its own if it decides that’s necessary because the money is being spent well or for some other reason”.  Ray, that dog won’t hunt.

Legris, knowing that the 1% tax would create a huge surplus began salivating and spending it before the tax could be enacted.  He came forth with another “vision” called the OPPORTUNITY FUND—another “Quality of Place” scheme.  Encased in the “vision” are festivals, Marshal’s Museum (private funding you say?), more money to the Bass Reeves monument (also private funding?), funding for the Arts Community, etc.—expansion in a depression.  These folks haven’t comprehended the word CUT—yet.

For you Directors and city government employees, I have a Vision—fill up the quarry at 5th & Garrison.  Back to the food tax, members of the Board and the Mayor must understand this is a contentious issue.  You apparently don’t understand our republic is bankrupt and expanding the city government is not in our vocabulary and many of our citizens are laboring mightily to stay afloat economically. The bottom line in this exercise in silliness is that you along with the Chamber of Commerce do not want to be recognized as the first C.C. in the state to be boarded, when in reality you would be doing the thing that many others should do.

The citizens own that building, you are elected to serve the wishes of the majority, so DC your heavy handedness and bring it to a vote.  You will be applauded if you do–win, lose or draw.

Joe McCutchen

P.S.  Still no explanation regarding the purpose of the 47 police work stations at the old armory.

THE EASIEST JOB IN THE WHOLE WORLD IS SPENDING SOMEONE ELSE’S MONEY.

arkansasfreedom.net

Why do plans to renovate Armory include 47 “work stations”?

47?                  47?                  47?                  47?                  47?                   47?

                                                                                    February 18, 2011

County Judge Hudson and Mayor Sandy Sanders—silence regarding the renovation & use of the old National Guard Armory and the $1.7 million needed.

The number 47—what is its significance?

47 “work stations”, technologically wired, special furniture anchored in concrete.  This description sounds almost like 47 mini-command center modules.  Who mans and for what purpose and what is the on-going cost?

There are 48 contiguous states in the United States.  Could it be that the terminals from each of the 47 desks will be connected with 47 states and of course the 48th being Arkansas.

Conspiracy?  Who knows?

A simple, descriptive press release would answer all the hypothetical questions that have been posed for the citizens of Fort Smith and Sebastian County.

I am sure that there are insiders who know all the details, conversely I’m equally sure there are those elected officials who don’t have the background to understand the potential magnitude of what the possibility of what the 47 desks represent.

J.P. Leo Faulkner gives meaning to the aforementioned paragraph and was quoted “talking this thing to death”, he noted the “center could be completed—and may be needed—by Spring’s hazardous weather season”.  (This isn’t Haiti)

47 desks for Sebastian County’s hazardous weather?  Give me a break!

Kindest regards,

17 organized gangs of illegals in one small town

Today’s front page story, not the headline story mind you, “Chief: police ID 17 organized gangs in the city”.  Why now?                                                                                 January 18, 2011

Citizens have known for 20 years that there are organized gangs in the city, how many we did not know. It is curious that the names of the 17 gangs were not reported; particularly 2 of the most violent gangs in the U.S. which has a presence in Fort Smith, e.g. MS 13 & Los Zetas.

It would indeed be refreshing and exciting to see the Times Record do some real reporting, accompanied by investigative journalism instead of the sappy, politically correct occasional editorials that emanate from the editor’s office. Perhaps, the ownership of the paper will not allow this to happen.  There was a day when this newspaper had legitimate editors and editorials—C.F. Byrnes, Don Reynolds, and Jack Mosley.  Those days appear to be long gone.

Illegal Mexicans have been and are front and center in broad daylight in our city.  It has been law enforcement and this newspaper which have been “in the shadows”.  I believe it is the right of citizens, for their own safety, to be informed regarding the illegal traffic in this city and the negative consequences they are producing.  Does owner Warren Stephens now think it is safe to report a modicum of facts regarding the illegal Mexican crisis?  Enough of “racial profiling” excuses.

A little about owner Warren Stephens.  He runs Stephens Production, Oil & Gas, TV stations, newspapers, politicians and the list goes on.

Oh yes, Mr. Stephens is a founding member of the “AMNESTY FOR ALL ILLEGALS” organization called The Arkansas Friendship Coalition which has other prominent members, i.e. the Catholic Church, Tyson’s, the Methodist Church, ACLU, LULAC, La Raza, the Chambers of Commerce, etc.  Who do these folks represent?  Not you middle America.

Notice all these “Bigs” have a pass regarding the need to follow the law.

Too Big to Fail mentality

TOO BIG TO FAIL                                                                          January 16, 2011

Today’s Times Record editorial “Good Leads Way with Hard Choices Needed” which means in essence the failed Fort Smith Civic Center is “too big to fail”.

No mention that city leaders were warned years ago that this is not a destination city and not to spend money we don’t have. Now the paper says it will cost $400,000 to maintain even if it sits empty.

The paper says a third-party operator is not viable…what happened to the proposal to do just that from the local Phoenix Expo Center?  No mention.

Then there’s the proposal to redirect (steal) some street tax money which was solemnly promised for that purpose alone. Never mind that the streets are an absolute embarrassment (e.g. have you driven into that downtown crevice at 5th & Garrison lately) and the sewers are in serious, serial violation of federal regulations.

Never mind that the city’s elected leaders have known for 10 years that the state turn back taxes to subsidize the white elephant would end in 2010.  Never mind that only a few actually benefit from the Center’s activities. Businesses which depend on taxpayer subsidized endeavors such as the Center are not legitimately viable anyway. Never mind that the Center has always lost at least $600,000 per year.  Never mind that jobless numbers are growing with businesses shutting down or moving.  Never mind the crumbling infrastructure

While the editorial admits that taxpayers are suffering and not in the mood to suffer more, it concludes with “therefore the taxpayers will be smart enough to understand that an extra dime on a $10 lunch is a small price to pay for all the things the Convention Center brings”.  Remember when the city leaders used to say “it’s only a penny”?  Now it’s “only a dime”.

Citizens, this is precisely the kind of thinking which got this country into the rotten, dangerous crisis we are facing today. A viable business will survive without the forced redistribution of taxpayer subsidies which is the foundation of all Collectivism/Socialism/Fascism.  An endeavor which is not viable should be allowed to fail which is a foundation of free enterprise Capitalism.

It is impossible to spend your way out of debt…that can only lead to more debt in the real world.  City Directors Good and Merry have already put their support behind spending our way into more debt, who else will sign on to this insanity?

Never forget, the easiest job in the whole world is spending someone else’s money, i.e. it’s easy to “make hard choices” with other people’s earnings.

Taxation without representation…again

January 12, 2011

Director Andre Goode’s statement 1/12/11, “If I was more concerned with my re-election than doing what’s right for the city of Fort Smith, then I would not vote to move forward with enacting a 1% hospitality tax”.  What Goode is saying is that the people in his ward would vote against the resurrection of the failed Fort Smith Convention Center with another tax.  He then says “What’s right for Fort Smith, then I would not vote to move forward with enacting a 1% hospitality tax”.  (?) These statements are in conflict with each other.

If the city board were of a moral and constitutional mindset they would allow citizens to vote on this issue. Originally the Mayor and Board of Directors made an unequivocal statement—the 1% street & sewer tax will NOT be violated.

An example of the city board’s floating ethics and morality, they are quite willing to tap into a 10% cut of the funds

Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director of the Advertising & Promotion Commission, Claude Legris’ eyes are bigger than the taxpayers’ stomach.  Legris claims that after running the 1% food tax it will generate $1.8 million.  The Convention Center allegedly generates about $700,000 per yr while expenses run about $1l8 million per yr.  Legris and other insiders, frothing at the mouth, quickly put the pencil to all the proposed unearned largesse and comes up with, you know, politicians “visions” for Fort Smith, e.g. there would be a $350,000 surplus so let’s git ‘er spent!    Now get this, Legris would spend it to support festivals, special events, tourism projects. (Nebulous talk accompanied by some form of forced redistribution and expansionism.

We have numerous privately owned, for profit venues which address all of Fort Smith’s convention center needs.

Next in line comes Ivy Owens of the Fort Smith Development Authority with his package of visions at Chaffee Crossing.  A High School, public library, mixed-use subdivision called Providence Community.  (Government Controlled Community is more accurate) Citizens, this is all in the name of government inspired Agenda 21, Quality of Place, Complete Streets, ICLEI, Sustainable, ad infinitum.

Also remember, these “visionaries” are building a Marshall’s Museum, they say with private donations, a professional baseball park, more parks, aquatic center, walking & biking trails and so on.  This bunch has got to be bridled and bridled soon.

Very soon there will be a report on how the Fort Smith Futurity is progressing.

FIX THE STREETS & PUT IT TO A VOTE!!

Slaying incumbents and confronting illegal immigration locally and statewide

Fort Smith city government—constitutionally challenged–political cowards–or both?    10/29/10

Not to bore, Arkansas is one of 50 sovereign states.  The federal government has 17 specific obligations.

The Constitution is NOT a living document, therefore one of the 17 obligations is to protect the several states’ borders and repel invaders.  The federal government has been criminally derelict in failing to secure those borders; therefore, are Arkansans ready to stake their economic and political safety on the single belief held by Gov. Mike Beebe, i.e. be damned with the illegal Mexican invasion; it’s simply a “federal problem”? Conclusion: it is obvious that Beebe is a paid shill for those industries and businesses hiring illegals, i.e. Wal-Mart, Tyson’s, OK Foods, Simmons, et al or a political self-serving coward who has no stomach to secure his constituency.  Which?

The Founders were explicit in stating that if the federal government did not comply with the wishes of the citizenry and the demands of the Constitution, that states could and should remove themselves from a corrupt compact, e.g. the federal government or remove them at the ballot box. Suggestion: Boozman, Lincoln, Beebe just for starters.  See “Is Rep. Boozman the man you think he is?” arkansasfreedom.net

An example and examination of the mentality of Boobus Arkanicus occurred in a barbershop debate today (10/29/10).  Four or five customers bloviating about voting out all incumbents, when the smoke cleared the question was posed, “Who are you voting for in the U.S. Senate race?”  They all proclaimed in different verbiage “we ain’t voting for that woman”….”we’re going to vote for Boozman”.  It was suggested that Boozman had been in the D.C. cesspool for 10 yrs and involved in numerous political and economic mischief, most if not all unconstitutional.  They responded by stating “he hadn’t been in the Senate”.   So much for Boobus Arkanicus.

Where is it said in the U.S. Constitution that elected and appointed officials cannot interrogate Hispanics who do not speak English and are suspected of being in our presence illegally?  Answer, nowhere.

To make the point, a news story in the Times Record 10/22/10 titled “Citizens Air Neighborhood Crime Problems to Police”.

The question was posed by a local citizen asking what police could do about the illegal immigrant problem in Ft. Smith.

Fort Smith police Captain Ed Smalley offered these torturous, convoluted statements (which posed questions, not answers).  Capt. Smalley said “unless a suspected undocumented immigrant violated a city ordinance or Arkansas law (they violated the law of the land by being here—never mind citizens’ security) they cannot be arrested by local police. (Why and on whose orders?) However, if a suspected illegal immigrant was convicted of a crime, deported and then returned to the area; local police then have the power to arrest.” (Wow, what a deal) Smalley explained that the “person may be in violation (may be?) of being an aggravated deported alien.”  (If they can’t be questioned, how would the police ever know that they’ve been convicted or deported? In fact, how would they ever be arrested initially if they can’t be questioned?)

The above quotes are then negated by Officer Smalley himself who said “I don’t care if they’re an immigrant, resident, or an astronaut; if they are breaking the law we’re going to arrest them”.   So which is it? They’ve broken the law by being here and if you can’t interrogate, how do you arrest?  Not being able to racially profile is nonsense…it’s not Eskimos breaking into our country. The Ft. Smith Board of Directors, the Mayor, the City Manager, Chief of Police, Sheriff are all too cowardly to use the phrase “illegal alien” in public discourse. (an immigrant is someone who comes here LEGALLY) Certainly, the city government is unwilling to discuss the crisis emanating from the illegal Mexican invasion, i.e. jobs, health, crime, schools, gangs, etc.   A small matter to the esteemed “public servants” is the thousands of jobs the illegals are stealing from Arkansans, their presence being paid for by middleclass Arkansans and the booty being made by the likes of the Tyson’s, Simmons, OK Foods, Wal-Mart and the illegal Mexicans are sure as hell not “in the shadows”.

The city of Fort Smith is a sanctuary city. Not one of our alleged public servants has taken meaningful action against the illegal invasion nor will they speak about the ongoing economic rape going on in the city.

Ft. Smith routinely violates an Arkansas state statute which says Arkansas state government entities shall not contract with businesses hiring illegals or subbing to companies hiring illegals.   In conjunction with the above, does the Ft. Smith public school system buy products manufactured by OK Foods, Tyson’s, Simmons, Pilgrim’s Pride, Georges, and many others, not necessarily food sources? If so, they are in violation of state law. Who is holding all the corrupt government entities accountable?

The answer is obvious…no one.

Conclusion: The Tea Partiers shout “we’re going to take back our country”…no they ain’t.  Too many still worship at the altar of the Republican party and they are too ignorant to understand that having the chance to take back this Republic….ALL incumbents must be bounced…that’s BOTH parties Boobi.   But Boobus Arkanicus will vote for John Boozman, Mike Beebe, Mike Ross, Dustin McDaniel (don’t forget Mike Huckabee) because they are softspoken so-called “nice guys” and Boobus Arkanicus are too lazy to initiate research on the votes these traitors have cast and the political positions they defend, apparently not realizing the aforementioned “nice guys” are the reason we have sunk into a political & economic abyss.

The United States has become a rogue nation instituted by both political parties and individual freedoms are about to achieve non-existence. Failures to secure our borders and control legal immigration properly have demoted the U.S. from a 1st World society to a 3rd World multicultural gulag.  As just one example, a tacit examination of the Fort Smith police department and the Sebastian County Sheriff’s office will quickly reveal they have become militarized organizations, as is the case across America. Question: who are the police taking their orders from and why are they involved in selective law enforcement, i.e. not arresting illegal aliens and those hiring them as directed by federal law 8 USC.  So, whose interests are they securing?

Kindest regards,

Joe McCutchen                                  arkansasfreedom.net

Beware rampant local attempts to globalize

Director Kevin Settle–his 10 Year Vision and very expensive campaign.                       Oct.18, 2010

Settle speaks voluminously about the necessity for his 10 Year Vision, but never ever enunciates any details of what his “Vision “is or it’s costs..   A topical computer research reveals dozens upon dozens of different kinds of “Visions”, mostly constructed by the federal government and implemented on federal, state and local levels. These programs are so large and far reaching (politicians & bureaucrats are aware of this, and that is the key) that citizens are overwhelmed and lose their constitutionally endowed control over these same politicians & bureaucrats.

These Visions are nothing more than EXPANSION OF GOVERNMENT & CONTROL  of the taxpaying citizens.

Contrary to what the occupants of government would have you believe, legitimate government is not complicated, in fact quite simplistic.  Tenured politicians are devious opportunists and as long as Boobus Americanus continue to elect or hire them cycle after cycle, we citizens are and will continue to pay the price for their destructive behavior.

Whenever the buzzwords “Vision”, “Partnership”, “Sustainable”, “Quality of Place”, “Green”, “Giving Back”, “Making a Difference”, etc. are touted by smiling politicians, bureaucrats, and educrats, citizens should readily understand they have once again been “sucker punched”.

Now comes the grandiose expenditures of the incumbent Settle’s campaign against an opponent who has spent very little for a City Director’s position in a small city.  So why are Director Settle and/or his handlers spending such an inordinate amount of money trying to capture a relatively minor political position, or maybe not minor in the minds of some.

Philosophically, the Globalists have determined after years of failure, that indoctrination is the procedure to remove a nation’s sovereignty, heritage, culture, etc. is to be accomplished bottom-up not top-down. There are reasons to believe that many of local office holders and hired personnel are being used as willing shills for the Globalist agenda, perhaps not understanding their complicity.

The question: Is Director Settle’s complicity on “Quality of Place”, etc. indicative of an understanding of what the goals are, or not?

Again, the needs of our city are quite simple. Running the city is not rocket science.  Stick to the basics and quit trying to “keep up with the Jones’’ and following the edicts of a corrupt federal government.

Director Settle, along with another Director or so, are launching campaigns involving the city in projects which properly fall to private enterprise, e.g. entertainment—professional baseball, soccer fields, aquatic centers, ad infinitum. Never a mention of the illegal Mexican invasion, those companies hiring illegals, gang activities, crises in public schools, disintegration of neighborhoods, etc.

All the above suggests that Director Settle is a willing progeny of BIG Government.

Joe McCutchen                                                              arkansasfreedom.net

The Fix is in: the Convention Center Tax Ballot

The Fix is in—the Convention Center Tax ballot.                                  October 12, 2010

The Mayor and Board members are elected allegedly to carry out the wishes of the voters and the City Manager is hired to implement those wishes.

Is this being done?  Hardly.

The city government, shirking their responsibilities, turned the matter of raising money to resurrect the moribund Civic Auditorium to an Ad Hoc Committee, which allows the voters 3 choices: 2 new taxes and a broken promise.

1.      Levy a 1% tax on prepared food

2.      Levy a ½% tax on prepared food

3.      Reallocate 5% of the DEDICATED Street Tax revenue to the Convention Center. The fact that some Directors are willing to flagrantly violate their honor to reposition a Dedicated tax to some other venue shows they cannot be trusted.  If 5% can be removed from the Dedicated street tax this would certainly indicate that the 1% street tax is generating more revenue than the city needs for streets & sewers; therefore where is the excess revenue going now?

Now to the Convention Center ballot.  The Ad Hoc committee and City Directors conveniently left out an integral component of the ballot which is:  NONE OF THE ABOVE.   Another dishonest position.

Gentlemen, why are you consciously eliminating what appears to be a substantial segment of voters from the election process by refusing to allow them to articulate their views, i.e. NONE OF THE ABOVE.

The city has any number of privately owned, for profit venues that create private sector jobs, while paring down the size of city government and generates tax revenue which the Convention Center does not, and can more than adequately serve the needs of the city.  Obviously, the privately owned convention centers are not subsidized by the hard pressed city taxpayers.

Directors, with an honest ballot, the possibility of shutting down the failed Convention Center would not be a stain on your political legacies, actually it would be seen as a rational political move in favor of taxpayers.

Kindest regards,

Joe McCutchen

More forced redistribution waste

Griffin & Pyle strike again.                                  September 7, 2010

Stack ‘em & Pack ‘em.  Build it and they will come.  Folks, it’s all about FUNDING.  Just like Beran at UAFS, another “5-Year Plan” foisted on taxpayers…shades of the old Soviet. (Can you imagine what this bunch will do to us in 5 years left to their own devices?)

An article by Ben Boulden in today’s Times Record (9/7/10) is supposed to be taken seriously and absolutely no laughing.   Fort Smith, a city of some 83,000 residents,  is being victimized by a “poll” of 70 people.  These 70 respondents saw a “high need” for more housing support for the so-called homeless.  Question: how many of these 70 people who are desirous of increasing welfare and parasitism pay income or property taxes?

The Fort Smith Community Development Department (now that’s a mouthful) sponsored this ludicrous survey.  They claim to have 500 “clients” per month and the number is growing exponentially.  Calling these people “clients” is akin to Federal & State governments calling welfare recipients “customers”.

Ms. Gabriel, a functionary in this welfare program states “Low-income people need to have available more vouchers so as to make standard housing more affordable.”  Standard housing?

Now enter Ken Pyle, Richard Griffin’s enabler, with the statement of the day.  “With more funding the Housing Authority could accommodate the working poor, the disabled and more homeless.”  Build it and they will come.

You boys did not absorb the 97/3 rule, so here it is again.  3% of Americans cannot take care of themselves mentally or physically, therefore their every need should be tended to without question.  97% should be ignored and it will take them 2 weeks to achieve their desired standard of living….off the welfare teat.

Back to the Riverfront.

As often proclaimed…Fort Smith is awash in taxpayers’ money, e.g. $62,000 to pay for its share in hiring a consulting firm regarding Bennie Westphal’s 85 riverfront acreage.  What was the total that Cushman & Wakefield of Dallas charged for the consultation, including the Chamber of Commerce and Westphal’s?

Any realtor worth his/her salt could ascertain in 10 minutes the potential of Westphal’s 85 acres. Apparently the only positive thing to come out of the grand theft was the revelation that Fort Smith could not support a baseball stadium which would seat more than 3,500.  In reality, that’s twice too large, undergirded by the fact that baseball is a dying spectator sport. Do the research and observe the NW Arkansas’ Naturals.

If the riverfront has so much potential, get out of the way and let the Westphals or whoever they sell the property to develop it.  But each of you public servants” know well that anything put down there, i.e. the Marshall’s Museum will out of necessity demand taxpayer subsidies if allowed to achieve fruition.

Get out of the entertainment business and adhere to the proper functions of government.  An excellent start would be the streets and sewers.

The easiest job in the whole world is spending someone else’s money.

Joe McCutchen
