The sordid state of affairs and failure of public education (government schools) and its enablers: Governors and Arkansas state legislatures                                          January 31, 2011

Saturday’s editorial in the Dem-Gaz 1/29/11 contained a piece titled “It’s a different arena, sir”. 

The piece centers on black activist John Walker, he’s the state Representative, and former Arkansas state senator, who has tied up Little Rock’s never-ending school desegregation case.  The piece describes Rep. Walker as holding the Ark. Black Caucus hostage regarding more funding for the Univ. of Ark. Pine Bluff.

The editorial contains one paragraph that succinctly describes the state of affairs in the Ark. Public school system.  Below is the paragraph and in parenthesis the translation.

“In Arkansas, according to the Nation’s Report Card, only about (ABOUT?) a quarter of the kids tested got passable grades in science. (This means large numbers of students were not tested; in all likelihood most Hispanics, large numbers of blacks, fortified by whites—across the board massive failures) Given that most of the young people who attend UAPB have to take remediation classes.  Just last Wednesday this paper reported that no more than a third of the nation’s students,   and an even Smaller percentage in Arkansas got decent grades on their science test last year.” (This in fact means than no more than 20% passed and could mean the percentage passing is most likely in the teens).    

 What we hear from Gov. Beebe, the state legislature and of course, educrats is “More & More Funding”, nothing about curricula, just more social engineering and facilities, i.e. we’re just one happy dumbed-down multi-cultural family”.  How does more money translate into better education?  Even when educators cheat by enhancing grades, they still can’t make the cut, but why should they when FUNDING FOLLOWS FAILURE?

Arkansas kids are being overwhelmed by illegal 3rd world, non-English speaking foreign nationals and the likes of the Beebe’s, state legislators are more than willing to murder our children’s learning capabilities, rendering a burgeoning, egalitarian society.

Examples of the criminal conduct of elected officials include Gov. Beebe’s lying on two separate occasions stating & then recanting that his administration was tracking the amount of funding the state was bequeathing on the illegal Mexican and OTM population.  The Commissioner of the Dept. of Finance and Administration, Richard Weiss stated recently that he had “no idea” how much state money was being shoveled out to the illegal population. (UNBELIEVABLE)  He’s the same guy who could not account for the loss of millions of Arkansas tax dollars a few years back.  The state legislatures who have authorized these illegal, unconscionable millions of citizens’ money dedicated to illegals are equally guilty and a number of this body is now trying to push through in-state tuition for illegals, AGAIN.  Three crimes have been committed by the Beebe administration.  Theft of taxpayer money by force and being distributed to an illegal alien population, who by law should be deported. By the way, where is the $90 million “stimulus” money (printed out of thin air) dedicated to the public school system?  Beebe is a political coward, e.g. the matter of Obamacare and illegal immigration…he simply states it’s a federal affair, therefore we cannot act. He actually declared that going against federal law is Unconstitutional. Does Beebe really believe that federal law supersedes the U.S. Constitution? (This guy is an attorney and was the Attorney General!) So, we the citizens do not have the right to defend ourselves against foreign invaders and a corrupt government?  Beebe is a self-serving, parasitic bully.

Do these fools not understand that every illegal that enters our state is pushing every facet of our society further into the abyss and again, back to the children, the more entrance by illegals the more dilution of what might be left of bonafide education?

Education, like all government institutions, has a life of its own with hundreds of thousands of employees clinging to its existence and working to expand…never mind that is it literally killing the producers for its own vested interest. For example,  Attorney General McDaniel has 63 attorneys on his staff and their only stated duty is to defend the Arkansas State Government!  An admission of corruption.

The United States of America, due to the criminal conduct of federal, state, county, & city governments has about reached critical mass in creating an environment which is almost indistinguishable from any other country around the globe.

Do these fools we elect, appoint and hire think that the millions of illegals who inhabit our once preeminent Republic will conduct themselves any different from their cousins in Mexico, Egypt, Greece, Honduras, Columbia, Ecuador, China, etc. at the appointed time?

Citizens have only one recourse in cleansing corrupt Arkansas government and that is the vote.  Unfortunately, government is immune from litigation by design, and the people of Arkansas don’t appear to understand this, e.g. Gov. Mike Beebe has an alleged 70% approval rating.

It’s coming soon. The hue & cry for more funding for the failed, corrupt Arkansas education system by the governor and the state legislature and of course the lobbying superintendents & chancellors.

Governor Mike Beebe and his administration—malfeasance, misfeasance, lies, & theft—his legacy?

Beebe the singer, “now you say you do, then you say you don’t, what are you gonna do?”, pertaining to the illegal criminal Mexican invasion and state employees ingratiating themselves by aiding and abetting.

Twice during the last gubernatorial campaign Beebe stated, “the state tracks how much it spends to provide services to people who are in the country illegally”.   Beebe has since recanted, saying “there’s no centralized tracking, no”. 

On Oct. 13, 2010 Beebe, when questioned about monitoring state expenditure directed to illegal Mexican aliens, incorrectly said “the Dept. of Finance Administration kept track”.

Now comes the heavy-handedness of the state’s bureaucracies, top down, and their arrogance, abuse, and lies directed at middleclass Arkansans.  I use middleclass only since those on welfare continue to stick out their greasy palms for more and the elites benefit from the Governor and his administration’s grand theft.

An statement made by Dept. Director of Finance, Richard Weiss who said “DFA does not collect information specifically on the use of public resources by illegal aliens”.  Why not?  Weiss later said “about (about ?) three agencies, most of which related to both legal and illegal aliens”.  MALFEASANCE.

Weiss goes on to say that education and imprisonment expenses for legal and illegal aliens totaled about $169 million in 2007, the last time he kept expenses. As the state’s Director of Finance Administration, why doesn’t he know to the penny, and how much specifically goes to illegals and why does he not define the difference between legal and illegal expenditures?  Another example of malfeasance, misfeasance and grand theft of Arkansas taxpaying citizens.  And in this breath it is to be said there has been no tracking since 2007.  If this is really the case, then every politician and state employee should drummed out of office and position.

It’s all lies, so which one prevails?  The only way the state gets reimbursed is to give specific counts and costs to the bankrupt federal government.  Now, if in fact they do not keep records it means that the state government is spending taxpayer money without any supervision or knowledge of how much money is being spent or on what.   The legislature is totally clueless as to the disbursement of taxpayer’s money and history shows they don’t give a damn.  Understand here that Gov. Beebe and one of his enablers Morril Harriman sit in the back room and call the shots and any bill they don’t back does not get out of committee.  Of all the negatives in Beebe’s 30 year career at the taxpayers’ trough and his smoke and mirror games, you can be assured of one thing, he knows and approves everything politically that happens in state government. Beebe is a political coward of the first order.  Two of the larger tragedies affecting Arkansans presently are illegal immigration and Obamacare—his position?  He “obeys the federal law”.  How pathetic.  Just let the unwanted invaders and national healthcare overrun us.  As you can see from above, citizens’ well-being, economic, security, social standing, culture, heritage, language is of no concern to this governor.

As long as the citizens of Arkansas choose to reelect self-serving political interests there will never be a bonafide challenge to the federal governments’ unconstitutional and criminal edicts, as is the case in several other states.  For example, Dept. of Education spokesman Julie Johnson Thompson said they don’t keep track of how many of the states’ 465,000 students are in the country illegally.  This is another bald-faced lie, if you take this statement at face value either Arkansas citizens are paying the total bill across the board for the presence of illegal Mexicans and OTM’s, or the state is getting reimbursed for educational services provided by the state by the orders of the Federal Government.  So which is it Julie Johnson Thompson?

Now we get into bigger lies, if possible.  This from Higher Education spokesman Brandi Hinkle.  The Dept. overseeing higher education does not keep track of the number of illegals attending Arkansas colleges and universities.  How can that be?  I have a copy of all Arkansas colleges and universities and the respective numbers of illegals enrolled.  I also have an admission from an FOI that some colleges in Arkansas are wantonly taking in illegals to bump up enrollments for more funding.  Records?  Hinkle further stated “students do not have to verify their legal status to attend Arkansas colleges”.  Why not?

When all the smelly smoke blows over it boils down to three issues.

1.      If the state government does not keep records regarding numbers and expenses incurred by treating illegal Mexican aliens like an endangered species, this simply means that Arkansas citizens are having their tax dollars literally stolen by Gov. Mike Beebe and the neutered feckless state legislature.

2.      Or it simply means the state government of Arkansas under the aegis of Mike Beebe is lying and the state government does keep records and submit said records for federal reimbursements.

3.      Either way, how can a citizen have any confidence in the financial reports and actual financial condition of the state when the Governor crows we are within budget?

It’s time for Gov. Beebe and his sidekick Morril Harriman to come out of the smoky backroom, turn on the lights, let in some fresh air and in conjunction with the current legislature fashion an effective equation to deal with the grand theft being promoted by this administration regarding the illegal Mexican invasion, e.g. issuing Matricula Consular cards, Ark. State Drivers Licenses, advertising in Spanish outside the state and all the hundreds of millions of dollars stolen by force from we citizens.

P.S.  An FOIA was submitted to the Dept. of Human Services January 18, 2011 requesting the numbers of illegal Mexican & OTM women who have availed themselves for free prenatal care and ancillary services provided by unknowing citizens, and the number of Anchor Babies produced.  In reality, we citizens are keeping up 2 sets of parasitic non-producers, illegals and government employees.

By the way, Gov. Beebe, in what manner and to whom did you disburse the $90 million in so-called stimulus money printed out of thin air and to be awarded to teachers as a $700 Christmas bonus?(Bonus for what?)  The Dept. of Education attorneys say they don’t know the details and won’t know until there is an audit, and they don’t know when that will be.  Surely you didn’t use it as a vote buying scheme and a means to expand state government.

Senator Ruth Whitaker and the betrayal of middleclass Arkansans; economically, constitutionally, legally, and culturally.                                               January 23, 2011

 

It should be stated here that elected, appointed, and hired representatives only function is to serve the citizens, not on a platter.

 

Senator Whitaker is openly flouting U.S. law, state law, and the fact that English is the official language of the state of Arkansas.  She and others like her have no morals or ethics, e.g. introducing Senate Bill 3 which calls on middleclass Arkansans to subsidize the wants of the state’s colleges, universities and hospitals (how safe are our hospitals?) through the use of illegal labor. In this case, translators for the non-english speakers to be used in the aforementioned institutions.

 

These institutions are also in open violation of U.S. and state statutes by hiring illegal laborers.

 

The audacity, bravado, arrogance and open defiance that Senator Whitaker is engaging in can only be described as an absolute betrayal of taxpaying citizens.  The very idea that this woman would force struggling citizens to subsidize criminal behavior.

 

The laws:

1.      8 USC, Section 1324a—hiring, harboring, transporting any illegal alien=10 yrs in jail

Section 1324=ALL law officers have authority to make arrests.

 

2.      An Arkansas Statute.  Unlawful for state agencies to hire any entity that employs illegal aliens or to hire any entity that subs out work for illegals.  Any entity that accepts funding from the Fed and/or state governments are subject to this statute.

 

3.      English is the official language of the state.

 

Question:  Who is Ruth Whitaker shilling for and why?  What is her payoff?

University of Arkansas Chancellor G. David Gearhart and Rep. Sue Madison used the U of A airplane to fly to Little Rock during the last legislative session to testify for more illegal activity, i.e. in-state tuition for illegal Mexicans and OTM’s.   Recently Gearhart wrote an extensive editorial in the Dem-Gaz promoting the equally unconstitutional, illegal DREAM Act.

 

Another FOI provided proof that certain colleges in the state were/are admitting illegals to buoy their enrollments for the express purpose of receiving more FUNDING.

 

Soon to be determined is how many of these so called public servants are double dipping, i.e. drawing their full salaries, along with their elective salaries, while they languish in Little Rock for some 4 months. 

 

Senator Whitaker has called herself a community activist…shades of Chicago.

Spending other people’s money is the easiest job in the whole world.

Tyson Foods, SB 3, and the RINO Republican Senator from Crawford County.      January 21, 2011

Media no longer asks questions…they just sit there and gobble up whatever talking points the government choses to run that day.  Crows on a fence.  The previous letter on the arkansasfreedom.net website begins to dissect the thuggery regarding chicken-pluckers and other corporate entities.  ICE has given rise to an agreement between government and employers (IMAGE) which allows businesses to “partner” with government, i.e. the old protection racket known as Public/Private Partnership (PPP).

No transparency here.  ICE says voluntarily partnering with agency (ICE) to promote the use of good hiring practices to insure businesses employ only those PEOPLE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE U.S. says ICE Director John Morton.  (To see the parade of “documents” required to be “legally authorized go to http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf   A slap in citizens’ faces.)  Are you counting the illegal aliens as legally authorized to work who have been run through the Huckabee illegal Mexican Consulate and subsequently awarded with Matricula Consular I.D. cards…which are so easily fraudulent that Mexico does not even recognize them as I. D.

So who’s the Alpha Male in the marriage between Tyson & ICE?  You decide.  ICE will only audit selected Tyson locations and Tyson will allow ICE to verify those Social numbers. Tyson and ICE held a large photo-op signing ceremony Thursday, January 20, 2011 in D.C.  ICE is congratulating Tyson Foods for making an effort to get into compliance.  Tyson shoots back that being IMAGE certified will enhance their ability to collaborate with the government officials on immigration. 

Questions to ICE Director John Morton:

1.       Why have you not defined “legal status” for the public? 

2.      In Tyson’s mandated selective audit gesture, what happens to the illegals that ICE identifies?

3.      Why has ICE not enforced 8 USC, Sections 1325, 1324a, 1324c, 1644?

The IMAGE program can only be described as a smoke and mirrors Ponzi Scheme.

It is safe to say that Tyson alone, in all likelihood employs in the neighborhood of 10,000 Hispanics in Arkansas and probably at least 75% are illegal.  So what will ICE do?  Award phony documentation?  Tyson is dictating the tenor of business. Selective law enforcement at its best.

Now enter Senate Bill 3 emanating out of the Arkansas State Legislature.  The bill states colleges and hospitals must provide interpreters for illegal aliens (naturalized citizens are required to speak English) hired by these institutions who can’t communicate in English.  We can thank Rino Republican Ruth Whitaker for this law-breaking travesty.

Before her costly economics kick in, the laws of the land should be enunciated. As already mentioned federal law 8 USC, i.e. transporting, hiring, harboring, aiding and abetting any illegal alien is a felony punishable by 10 years jail plus heavy fines for each illegal.   Also, Arkansas statute states no government entity may employ illegals or conduct business with those companies that employ illegals or sub work out to illegals.

The Senator has no problem trampling the constitutional rights of middleclass citizens, while adding more economic burdens on said citizens.  Is the Senator from Crawford County not aware of the billions of Arkansas taxpayer monies subsidizing food, education, medical care, law enforcement, gangs, penal and free prenatal care for illegal women which she helped enable (resulting in thousands of Arkansas Anchor babies on welfare til 21 & the ability to bring their immediate kin here from their mother country)?

Who is the progenitor of this another brutal attack on middleclass Arkansans?  Bear in mind any private entity, e.g.  hospitals or colleges, which takes government funding forfeits its right to escape laws covering hiring.  I’ll leave the realm of facts and transition to conjecture.

The Catholic Church has long run a sanctuary program for illegal Mexicans, subsidized by Catholic Charities which in turn is heavily subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.  I have no problem suggesting that the Catholic Church, per se, or one of its branches, Sisters of Mercy is probably behind the egregious SB 3.  This could include UAFS Chancellor Paul Beran, the State Chamber of Commerce, and other globalists. This state and federal government are corrupt to the core.

From the Times Record “Neighborhoods, Police on top of gang issue”

The editor of the Times Record is thanking Police Chief Kevin Lindsey for doing his job.  So exactly what all is he doing?  Apparently, the editor seems to believe that neighborhood associations are the solution to the crisis.  Again, I repeat, these gangs have infested our city for at least 30 years and not a peep from the newspaper, the Fort Smith city police, the county sheriff, ICE or the FBI…which all have substantial presence in our community.

Today a big news release…Tyson signs on to the IMAGE program with ICE, proclaiming they do not hire illegals.  What a crock.  Let’s conjecture.  During the Huckabee administration (it is said he is the leading GOP candidate for president…shows what some of the Tea Parties know) the right reverend Huckabee signed an accord with former Mexican president Vicente Fox to create a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock (Arkansas taxpayers subsidized)  which was and is an unconstitutional act (Article 4, Section 10, U.S. Constitution).  At the time Mike Beebe was Attorney General for the state and never questioned Huckabee’s actions. The Mexican Consulate issues what is known as Matricula Consular cards which law enforcement agencies and corporations accept as legitimate (Mexico does not) identification…also a corrupt practice.  The L.R. Mexican Consulate serves as an I.D. and distribution center for illegals serving a 4 state area…Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, & Missouri.  Will Matricula Consular cards be Tyson’s, the state and the Feds cover regarding the IMAGE Program? Look for a big amnesty push.  Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, a grand supporter of industry’s hiring tens of thousands of illegals, remains deep “in the shadows” of a corrupt state government on this issue.  

Another one of Huckabee’s numerous crimes, with the Arkansas legislature’s help, passed a law allowing illegal Mexican and OTM women to have “free” prenatal care accompanied by all ancillary services, resulting in producing thousands upon thousands of Anchor Babies in Arkansas.  At least 3 FOI’s have been filed at the Dept. of Human Services for the exact number of illegal women who have availed themselves of these unconstitutional “free” services and the resulting costs to Arkansans.  The responses from Human Services go something like this…”we don’t keep records”, “we are not allowed to ask who is illegal”, and “you must be more specific”.  There is another FOI pending, asking the identical questions.  Understand that the anchor babies produced by this legislative travesty allow said babies to draw welfare until 21 and they may bring in their immediate kin from their mother country.   Are you getting the picture…that the American government top down is corrupt to the core?

Now the word Fusion: fusion entered the political scene some time ago which allows the various policing agencies to share their information.  More police muscle, not always directed at the law breakers.  Within days, various policing agencies have come out into the noonday sun and are speaking gingerly about the Mexican and OTM invasions.  It does appear to be fusion emanating from the big boy in DC.  Wonder what precipitated this phenomenon.  Are citizens rising up and putting some heat the elected vultures?  More damage control?

The thought comes to mind, with the aforementioned policing agencies in Fort Smith, all within a stone’s throw from the largest employers of illegals…that would be OK Foods, Simmons, Tyson, etc., why now?

It will be interesting to see if there is a huge cloud of brown dust on a heading of 230 degrees shortly, it’s doubtful.

Is it all window dressing and/or damage control?

17 organized gangs of illegals in one small town

Today’s front page story, not the headline story mind you, “Chief: police ID 17 organized gangs in the city”.  Why now?                                                                                 January 18, 2011

Citizens have known for 20 years that there are organized gangs in the city, how many we did not know. It is curious that the names of the 17 gangs were not reported; particularly 2 of the most violent gangs in the U.S. which has a presence in Fort Smith, e.g. MS 13 & Los Zetas.

It would indeed be refreshing and exciting to see the Times Record do some real reporting, accompanied by investigative journalism instead of the sappy, politically correct occasional editorials that emanate from the editor’s office. Perhaps, the ownership of the paper will not allow this to happen.  There was a day when this newspaper had legitimate editors and editorials—C.F. Byrnes, Don Reynolds, and Jack Mosley.  Those days appear to be long gone.

Illegal Mexicans have been and are front and center in broad daylight in our city.  It has been law enforcement and this newspaper which have been “in the shadows”.  I believe it is the right of citizens, for their own safety, to be informed regarding the illegal traffic in this city and the negative consequences they are producing.  Does owner Warren Stephens now think it is safe to report a modicum of facts regarding the illegal Mexican crisis?  Enough of “racial profiling” excuses.

A little about owner Warren Stephens.  He runs Stephens Production, Oil & Gas, TV stations, newspapers, politicians and the list goes on.  

Oh yes, Mr. Stephens is a founding member of the “AMNESTY FOR ALL ILLEGALS” organization called The Arkansas Friendship Coalition which has other prominent members, i.e. the Catholic Church, Tyson’s, the Methodist Church, ACLU, LULAC, La Raza, the Chambers of Commerce, etc.  Who do these folks represent?  Not you middle America.

Notice all these “Bigs” have a pass regarding the need to follow the law.

TOO BIG TO FAIL                                                                          January 16, 2011

 

Today’s Times Record editorial “Good Leads Way with Hard Choices Needed” which means in essence the failed Fort Smith Civic Center is “too big to fail”.

 

No mention that city leaders were warned years ago that this is not a destination city and not to spend money we don’t have. Now the paper says it will cost $400,000 to maintain even if it sits empty.

 

The paper says a third-party operator is not viable…what happened to the proposal to do just that from the local Phoenix Expo Center?  No mention.

 

Then there’s the proposal to redirect (steal) some street tax money which was solemnly promised for that purpose alone. Never mind that the streets are an absolute embarrassment (e.g. have you driven into that downtown crevice at 5th & Garrison lately) and the sewers are in serious, serial violation of federal regulations.

 

Never mind that the city’s elected leaders have known for 10 years that the state turn back taxes to subsidize the white elephant would end in 2010.  Never mind that only a few actually benefit from the Center’s activities. Businesses which depend on taxpayer subsidized endeavors such as the Center are not legitimately viable anyway. Never mind that the Center has always lost at least $600,000 per year.  Never mind that jobless numbers are growing with businesses shutting down or moving.  Never mind the crumbling infrastructure

 

While the editorial admits that taxpayers are suffering and not in the mood to suffer more, it concludes with “therefore the taxpayers will be smart enough to understand that an extra dime on a $10 lunch is a small price to pay for all the things the Convention Center brings”.  Remember when the city leaders used to say “it’s only a penny”?  Now it’s “only a dime”.

 

Citizens, this is precisely the kind of thinking which got this country into the rotten, dangerous crisis we are facing today. A viable business will survive without the forced redistribution of taxpayer subsidies which is the foundation of all Collectivism/Socialism/Fascism.  An endeavor which is not viable should be allowed to fail which is a foundation of free enterprise Capitalism.

 

It is impossible to spend your way out of debt…that can only lead to more debt in the real world.  City Directors Good and Merry have already put their support behind spending our way into more debt, who else will sign on to this insanity?

 

Never forget, the easiest job in the whole world is spending someone else’s money, i.e. it’s easy to “make hard choices” with other people’s earnings.

The 2 sides of Don Tyson

Me, Don and the Dickson Street Pool Hall                                                            January 14, 2011

Back in the day, way back in the day, there were two young lads who convened on somewhat of a regular basis at the Dickson Street Pool Hall in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The two of us were alleged to be students at the University of Arkansas and certainly neither of us could be construed as candidates for Phi Beta Kappa.   8-Ball was our game, certainly not those boring classes.

The Don I refer to was Don Tyson, soon to become the Grand Poobah of the chicken world.  Don and I were not good friends, just pool shootin’ acquaintances who happened to land periodically at the Dickson Street Pool emporium at the same time.  Don was a very amiable fellow and he always parked his ’51 Buick convertible on Dickson St.   When I left town it was by rail.  I jumped the Missouri-Pacific freight train at George’s Majestic Lounge, which also resides on Dickson St. to this day, and I’d ride that booger right into Van Buren and my thumb took me on into Mansfield.  The Mo-Pac Bulls never kicked me off the train in the years that I was their very best non-paying passenger.

Little did I know, or care at the time, that our lives, philosophically and politically, would diverge in such an extreme way.  Our paths over the years crossed several times, amiably I might add.

Don has since passed on and eulogies extolling his virtues are now in the past tense, so I think the flip side of the coin must be addressed, in this case in a topical fashion.

Don Tyson, in my judgment, did more to destroy the character, the sovereignty, the culture and heritage of this republic than nearly any other single person in the history of our once preeminent land.  Don Tyson’s activities gave rise to the explosive and massive Third World illegal immigration of cheap Hispanic slave laborers that has indeed engulfed our land. Observe. Few First-worlders now have little enthusiasm about immigrating to our shores. These invasions have dulled every precept that the Founders envisioned.   Don had a myriad of enablers, ranging from all the presidents since the invasion began, the congress, the state houses, right on down to the ground floors of government, the chambers of commerce, the Catholic Church, and the media.  The results of his and their criminal activities have destroyed public education, healthcare, commerce, political discourse, and so on, resulting in massive economic burdens placed on beleaguered middleclass Americans.

The question becomes, do Americans have the strength, resolve and fortitude to throw off the politically correct sovereign nation-killing choke hold known as illegal immigration and remove the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats—top down? Are Americans too ignorant, too cowardly, too self-indulging, or do they think it is all P.C. O.K.?

And yet, I still have fond memories of me, Don, and the Dickson Street Pool Hall.

Taxation without representation…again

Director Andre Goode’s statement 1/12/11, “If I was more concerned with my re-election than doing what’s right for the city of Fort Smith, then I would not vote to move forward with enacting a 1% hospitality tax”.  What Goode is saying is that the people in his ward would vote against the resurrection of the failed Fort Smith Convention Center with another tax.  He then says “What’s right for Fort Smith, then I would not vote to move forward with enacting a 1% hospitality tax”.  (?) These statements are in conflict with each other.

If the city board were of a moral and constitutional mindset they would allow citizens to vote on this issue. Originally the Mayor and Board of Directors made an unequivocal statement—the 1% street & sewer tax will NOT be violated.

An example of the city board’s floating ethics and morality, they are quite willing to tap into a 10% cut of the funds

 

Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director of the Advertising & Promotion Commission, Claude Legris’ eyes are bigger than the taxpayers’ stomach.  Legris claims that after running the 1% food tax it will generate $1.8 million.  The Convention Center allegedly generates about $700,000 per yr while expenses run about $1l8 million per yr.  Legris and other insiders, frothing at the mouth, quickly put the pencil to all the proposed unearned largesse and comes up with, you know, politicians “visions” for Fort Smith, e.g. there would be a $350,000 surplus so let’s git ‘er spent!    Now get this, Legris would spend it to support festivals, special events, tourism projects. (Nebulous talk accompanied by some form of forced redistribution and expansionism.

We have numerous privately owned, for profit venues which address all of Fort Smith’s convention center needs.

Next in line comes Ivy Owens of the Fort Smith Development Authority with his package of visions at Chaffee Crossing.  A High School, public library, mixed-use subdivision called Providence Community.  (Government Controlled Community is more accurate) Citizens, this is all in the name of government inspired Agenda 21, Quality of Place, Complete Streets, ICLEI, Sustainable, ad infinitum.

Also remember, these “visionaries” are building a Marshall’s Museum, they say with private donations, a professional baseball park, more parks, aquatic center, walking & biking trails and so on.  This bunch has got to be bridled and bridled soon.

Very soon there will be a report on how the Fort Smith Futurity is progressing.

FIX THE STREETS & PUT IT TO A VOTE!!

Your quotes in today’s edition of the Dem-Gaz go far beyond arrogance.  They demonstrate an utter disregard for the producers, i.e. the taxpaying citizens who generate the funds to keep the Behemoth known as the Arkansas State Government afloat.  I, of course, refer to your announcement that you were awarding state government employees a cost-of-living raise of 1.86% across the board. How long has it been since you have seen Arkansas citizen workers and Social Security recipients get a raise?

 

Our republic is in an economic free-fall to the abyss and the folks supporting it are struggling mightily economically.  During your tenure you have increased the number of Arkansas state employees by a number somewhere between 3,000 & 4,000.  The only way you can accomplish that is by FORCED REDISTRIBUTION.

 

If you and those thousands of underworked, overpaid bloated government employees cannot make it on the salaries and perks they receive, then all should hit the road for greener pastures.

 

Then there is the matter of you giving $55.1 million to the slush fund of the failed government education system.  Money does not educate, as we have witnessed over and over and over again.

 

Citizens, please call your elected senators and representatives and urge them not to vote for the Governor’s vote-buying expansionistic scheme.
