A Southerner’s response to Arrogant Ignorance

September 8, 2015
Fort Smith School Board President Deanie Mehl came South looking for employment and found it.

With the above in mind, why is she so filled with anger and disdain aimed at the South and all things Southern?

She has been contemptuous, at least in her mind, by describing some local citizens as Rebels & Rednecks.

What President Mehl fails to understand is the fact that the words Rebel & Redneck are two of the most honorable words in the English language.

A Rebel stands for independence, self-determination & refuses to be subjugated, therefore are despised by government types.

Redneck Southerners are the bedrock of our republic, dependability, steady, hard workers and have always been the backbone of the American military. I am a proud product of that inheritance.

The vitriol she spews is reminiscent of the Carpetbaggers that came South after Lincoln’s war and wrecked devastation on us that didn’t end until the 1970’s.

The recent conduct by Superintendent Benny Gooden and the Fort Smith School Board’s arcane slights of hand are a disgrace & a defaming of our true heritage and character by pitching incendiaries, i.e. racist, bigot, and all the other race baiting words which do not apply to our community in any way.

The aforementioned individuals have betrayed and are betraying school kids of all colors in the F. S. District by not teaching historical, factual information regarding specifically that period of 1858 thru 1868.

Conclusion: F.S. School Board President has shown herself to be a new-age Carpetbagger; not an enviable legacy.
