When Spying & Frying become an accepted practice in a community….i.e. Drones…

Senator John “The Travelin’ Man” Boozman recently back from a warmongering excursion in the Mideast and terminating in Europe, making a guest appearance in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he exclaimed “I credit the Univ. of Arkansas, Fort Smith and the 188th Fighter Wing (Drone Mission) of the Ark. National Guard for helping broaden the base of the economy and adding to the city’s status as a center of retail, healthcare, and manufacturing for the region”.

One can only attempt to dissect what the Senator’s intentions were for making such an outlandish & nation-destroying statement.  As a matter of fact he is stating that he fully approves of Drones, spying on and frying U.S. citizens and in his hometown of Fort Smith.  After all, who would trust this government to tell the truth about their targets.

The question is simply this: How do murder and spying stimulate the economy?  Senator Boozman has turned on Americans and more specifically Arkansans by presiding over the heinous practice of pitting Arkansans against Arkansans (spying & murdering) and all the time the aforementioned practice is subsidized by the producing citizens who may be their targets.

It must be noted that the practitioners of the Spying & Frying are doing so on a voluntary basis and some in the military sphere have recognized that the practice is so dastardly that the 188th and others like it must be staffed with psychiatrists & preachers. Quite an admission. Is this the healthcare Boozman referred to?  

Boozman knows full well, along with the rest of the politicians & bureaucrats that the American populace under 40 yrs of age have been dumbed down by the schools & universities to the point that they are incapable of using logic as the determinant to understanding what has happened to our once vaunted republic.

Boozman refers to the Pilots and Sensors and the various ancillary services making up the 188th as jobs. Question: when did killing and spying become bonafide jobs?

The Constitution, the rule of law, and morality are all being erased by warmongering, greedy politicians, who live in a rarified atmosphere with no connection to the consequences of their actions or to their constituents. Boozman, as well as the other Arkansas 5, voted for the destruction of the Bill of Rights and the nation-killing legislation called the National Defense Authorization Act…all jabbering it was for the (phony) “war on terror”.

Both UAFS & the 188th are bloated in every regard, e.g. UAFS has expensive billboards in practically every mid-size city in Arkansas, including Fort Smith, and all the cities where the boards are present have colleges & universities (e.g. Conway, with 2 universities, one of which is Hendrix which is the best institution of higher learning in the state and Chancellor Beran has the audacity to stick a billboard up in Conway.) How many people ever made their college decision based on a billboard?

Our civilization is rapidly being erased by corrupt politicians & bureaucrats, while citizens stupidly continue to reelect the very individuals who have been and are precipitating a national/global crisis.

HOW DID THEY KNOW?

Aldous Huxley, “Brave New World” (1931); Ayn Rand, “Anthem” (1937); George Orwell, “Animal Farm” (1945) & the novel “1984” (written in 1949)……for examples.
One reason might be they were not subjected to Political Correctness but were indeed predicting it in various forms due to their individual abilities to logically project future outcomes from past and present societal trends.

In “Brave New World” Huxley foresaw an American tyrannical society complete with “official” recreational sex along with the total breakdown of the family unit, complete with hatcheries for test tube babies (pre-cradle to grave government control) who are preselected for certain occupations/positions in life—from elites to dishwashers by nameless bureaucrats.

Just as Melissa Harris-Perry, a professor at Tulane, proudly announced on TV recently that your child is not yours, it belongs to the community, in essence “Everyone belongs to everyone else”…exactly as Huxley described the “Brave New World”.  The professor publicly espouses belief in the same values and techniques of “Brave New World”…and don’t forget Hillary Clinton’s “It Takes A Village”!

Also in the novel, everyone is addicted to free “Soma” (mood elevator), the purpose of which is of course to keep independent thinking and questioning suppressed.  No one is allowed out of their predetermined perimeters…adios individuality.  Sound familiar?

In “Anthem” Rand foresaw the death of individualism, sacrificed to the Collective (selflessness=virtue, give back to community, make a difference in today’s jargon). She projected a world where excellence was considered unfair (affirmative action, set-asides, quotas?) and brilliance was punished…too much brilliant independent thinking could get one burned at the stake/a new “Dark Ages”.

Certain words were banished such as the words “I” & “self” (anything indicating the individual)…replaced by “we” & “ourselves” celebrating the Collective.  In this selfless, joyless existence no family units are allowed and everyone assigned occupations regardless of abilities, ambitions or desires by faceless, nameless members of various ministries (bureaucracies, e.g. Dept. of Health & Human Services, Human Resources).  Equality meant one size fits all. (Public schools, NCLB, Goals 2000, now Common<Communist> Core, etc.)

In Anthem eople were assigned numbers instead of names which further destroys individuality. The hero has a brilliant mind but is assigned to street sweeping. He accidentally stumbles upon remnants from a past industrialized world and he begins to mentally put the pieces together regarding the age-old war of the individual versus the collective (Aristotle vs. Plato; Individualism vs. Communism). Sound familiar?  Due to his rediscovery of the concept of self he manages to escape the confines of the captive dark city into the “wilderness” and learns to survive in freedom and reestablishes rational self-interest and the beginning of a new “Enlightenment”.

Orwell foresaw the future with an analogy to an Animal Farm where the inhabitants take over control of the farm in order to make sure everything is equally fair to every resident…the only problem was that it logically led to some Animals being “more equal than others”.  Sound familiar?

In “1984” Orwell then predicted a total surveillance society (NSA recording phone & emails of millions; IRS targeting patriot groups; TSA searching innocent plane passengers; ATF walking guns to criminals; FBI & CIA intrusive programs; 30,000 Drones spying on U.S. residents) with Big Brother watching every move everyone makes.  (Sounds very familiar doesn’t it?)

The bureaucracies were called “ministries” which monitored & controlled all aspects of life, e.g. the Ministry of Truth whose job it was to rewrite history, change word definitions and even ban certain words to fit the Collective philosophy.   (Political Correctness)  (Examples: crippled=physically impaired, postman=post person, Negro=African American, stewardess=flight attendant, waitress=server, retarded=mentally challenged, fireman=fire fighter, personnel=human resources, fat=obese, retarded=special needs, lie=mispoke)

The masses were required to attend propaganda presentations which depicted their deadly enemies and invoked rage and jingoism so they would continue to approve the “eternal war for eternal peace”. (False Flag incidents involving death and/or destruction; War on Terror; attacks on sovereign countries built on lies; our government supplying rebels to give excuse to overthrowing regimes)   Sound familiar?

A few past quotes illustrate elite’s view of war & troops: Henry Kissinger—“Military men are just dumb animals, stupid animals”.  G. W. Bush—“I don’t feel sorry for them, they volunteered”. 

Then there was Secretary of State Madeline Albright on “60 Minutes” on May 12, 1996:

Stahl: “We have heard that a half a million children have died [because of sanctions against Iraq]. I mean that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And–you know, is the price worth it?”
Albright: “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price–we think the price is worth it.”

Whatever happened to the Enlightenment?  Yes, the Enlightenment…the ability to reason, to logically make connections to foresee results, putting aside normal human compassion for a moment, what would one think would happen if a foreign country suddenly started shooting missiles into your town, killing and destroying your friends, families, homes?  Would you say, gee thanks? 

Yet we have leaders, pundits, the media, etc. constantly propagandizing the public into believing the U.S. must “make the world safe for democracy”…..by blowing up entire areas??? Not only unrealistic but insane.  Not only that, but to think people will not react, will not try to fight back, not to expect “blowback” is further insanity.   Consider the self-righteous warmongers who eagerly place our military in harm’s way and callously use them as cannon fodder while spouting “patriotism” to fire up the low information masses.

So here we are, entering the culmination of what Huxley, Rand, & Orwell foresaw and predicted.  A Collectivist world in which the individual is sacrificed to the group, where corruption, betrayal, brutality reign and life is becoming joyless, grim, and in constant fear.

Drones the silent assassins versus the U.S. Constitution’s amendments 3, 4, & 8.

Quite simply, drones are used to execute individually or en masse, while accomplishing the secondary goal of spying and the tertiary goal of inducing fear.

Elected officials, in the case of Arkansas, Senators Mark Pryor & John Boozman, accompanied by Congressman Steve Womack go about the business of securing a drone base to replace the 188th  Fighter Wing as if the drone base will be nothing more than a religious encampment.

Fort Smith, Arkansas’ major news outlet, the Times Record, prints stories embracing the drone mission, but avoids specifics, as is the case with politicians, about what exactly is the “drone mission”? The T.R. has long since devolved into a politically correct instrument for government/corporatism.  The paper is owned by the Stephen’s Group, one of the largest corporations in America, controlling editorial policy and wire service news content.  One would hope that the T.R. would be an organ of debate and truth-seeking instead of favoring the new killer of choice of the Pentagon.

More & more operation centers are opening across our fruited plains.  Information states these centers are air-conditioned offices for soldiers to apply their newly acquired killing & surveillance skills. The remotely piloted aircraft are controlled by the military unit at a base from a virtual cockpit by a two person team, a pilot and a sensor operator—assassins in absentia. 

In very recent times fixed wing fighter aircraft were used in combat against identifiable opposing forces.  This type of warfare was honorable & heroic by the fact the combat was in the open, each could be seen by the other combatant and one or more of the combatants could often withdraw if they chose.

Not so with drones.  It should be remembered before detailing some thoughts on the use of drones that a military person does not have to carry out any order that is unconstitutional. The concern here is the designation of 30,000 drones that will overfly the whole of the U.S. in addition to global coverage.  The Times Record, politicians and other self-servants bloviate that the 188th Drone Missions will create in the neighborhood of 1,000 jobs—no, not jobs, government warring positions. Again, no probing or concern as to the ultimate results of the terror in the skies, i.e. drones.

The “mission” that is spoken of is spying on Americans, instilling fear, and silently assassinating Americans.  Recently the U.S. Senate & House of Representatives gave the Pentagon authority to create a network of highly trained, completely unaccountable U.S. assassins with “Kill Lists”…those lists are expanding daily, there are also secret “legal opinions governing the use of drones in targeting assassinations”.  The individual soldiers sitting in their cubicles operating the joystick and sensing devices are nothing more than cowardly hired killers and those politicians & others associated with drone operations are accomplices in murder, spying, and fear mongering.

“We’ve been preparing for this conversion just like normal (just like normal?) ever since General Mark Welch came to visit here in January,” said Major Heath Allen, 188th Public Affairs office.  Allen’s position is the same as the rest of officialdom, secure the government positions and to hell with the mental & physical destruction the drones will produce in America.

A sobering statement made by A.F. General Mark Welch on his recent tour of the 188th, “A great mission and a growing mission that will be a big part of the future”.  General Welch is a madman for what he and others are advocating: their collective unconstitutional behavior (violating the 3rd, 4th, & 8th Amendments) but also stating that murder & surveillance is the coming order of the day, i.e. a terminal U.S. national lockdown.

For Americans to tolerate the barbaric conduct of the U.S. government, the U.S. military, and the underlying bureaucracies is proof-positive that our nation has lost the concepts our Founders laid down hundreds of years ago.  We have shown our abject stupidity by electing incumbents for decades and allowing them to make our once revered republic a global laughing stock and a purveyor of destruction under the guise of installing “global democracy”….Observe! (Senators Boozman 18yrs, Pryor 18yrs, Reid 30yrs, McCain 30yrs, Hoyer 32yrs, Schumer 33yrs, Boxer 30yrs, & the beat goes on.)

Again, anyone connected with the U.S. Air Force’s Drone Program operating in the U.S. is a traitor to the Constitution, our heritage and Western Civilization.  Local policing agents are acquiring drones and their battle cry always…it’s security and the (faux) war on terror…while our elected congressional & senatorial traitors refuse to demand enforcement of existing laws that would ensure border security.

Citizens, by default have given the federal government and its vast number of instruments the ability through the use of drones to wipe out all semblances of U.S. freedom.  For those of you who still sing “Let Freedom Ring”, you are indeed comatose.

Unless the political landscape is constitutionally changed, i.e. removal of Democrat & Republican incumbents and underlying bureaucracies, we can no longer call ourselves a Constitutional Republic”.  I am not speaking in terms of years, it is the now.

In the Arkansas’ just completed General Assembly the newly minted Republican majority, with all their glorious conservatism, are offering up a bill to extend term limits to 16 years.  Question: why would an individual want to spend 16 years in some elected capacity?  And by the way, this is the same group that voted to install Obamacare by declaring to put 250,000+ more Arkansas residents, not necessarily citizens on welfare for life, while Obamacare Navigators, Guides, & Certified Counselors are being paid $48 per hour.

Human lives are not video games.

Addendum: This day a political cartoon entitled “Americanized Drones” appeared in the Times Record…an adroit propagandizing & indoctrinating drawing of a giant wasp with emblazoned on its face the words DOMESTIC SURVEILLENCE, in the space in front of its head was printed JUST EYES, behind his stinger was printed NO STINGER.

What a clever piece of deceptive brain-washing. We are to believe “Americanized Drones” are different from those used abroad, you see, it’s quite alright for government eyes to observe every aspect of your home and physical being and of course an “Americanized Drone” would never ever contain a laser stinger that can fry you like an egg in a skillet.  No, no, not in Amerika!  Do you believe that?

“Congressman says action right in context of available FACTS”.    Cite one fact that suggested Iraq was in any way a danger or threat to the U.S.   Perhaps your ungrounded treacherous statement is a means you are employing to justify your military service in Iraq.

I find it impossible to divorce myself from your abuse of the two beautiful words “Just” & “Noble”.

Tell me what is “Just” & “Noble” about the U.S. military invading a hapless country based on lies, which had been embargoed for decades?  Tell me what is “Just” & “Noble” about the U.S. sustaining 4,486 U.S. military dead and 30,000 wounded? Tell me what is “Just” & “Noble” about the U.S. murdering an estimated 176,000-189,000 innocent Iraqi men, women & children?  What is “Just” & “Noble” about Iraqi prisoners being led around on leashes like dogs at Abu Ghraib without proof of any guilt?  What is “Noble” about U.S. propensity for murder, assassinations, and torture?  The insidious introduction of torture alone has conditioned American society to accept something formerly considered barbaric. 

Tell me what is “Just or Noble” about the passage of the Patriot Acts and voted for by every member of Congress save Rep. Ron Paul?  What is “Just & Noble” about using drones to indiscriminately assassinate unknown victims? The individuals controlling the joysticks of the drones are guilty of murder and/or spying.  Please ask Senator Boozman and the rest of the Arkansas delegation what are the purposes of Domestic Drones overflying Arkansas, yes Arkansas?  Other than total destruction of a country, what has been gained? Oh yes, the cost of the conflagration—a mere $ 2.2 TRILLION!

You’re “Just & Noble” barbarism brought us, in addition to the heinous Patriot Acts, the Military Commissions Act, National Defense Authorization Act, all of which have reduced our former preeminent republic to a police state by abolishing Posse Comitatus, Habeas Corpus, and most of the Bill of Rights. While this is being said Homeland Security is purchasing billions of rounds of ammo—for what purpose?

As a newly minted young congressman, by your words you have betrayed American citizens.  Unfortunately your Republican Party is being led by neo-conservatives, i.e. warmongers for power & profit while using young Americans as nothing more than cannon fodder.

It is appropriate that the principals in the Mideast debauchery are named, i.e. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, I. Kristol, Podhoretz, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Libby, Bolton, Abrams, Kagan, Ledeen, W. Kristol, & Gaffney.  Beginning with Irving Kristol, many are dual Israelis, where do you suppose their allegiances lie?

By the way, as a Congressman, have you been on the obligatory trip to Israel to receive your indoctrination and were you a recipient of AIPAC money?

Your presence in the U.S. Senate is a dark cloud hanging over our Republic.
As proponents of the NDAA, i.e. drones, absent legal representation, indefinite confinements,  etc. etc., along with your fanning the flames for the phony wars on terrorism is despicable and destroying our once preeminent republic.

The idea that Americans are being spied on at your directions unknowingly from the air along with the capacity to assassinate on command is utterly astounding.  Couple this with your insulting remarks directed at Sen. Paul on his efforts to alert Americans of the attacks on freedom/life by drones and the appointment of the murdering/extraordinary rendition John Brennan demonstrates without error you are enemies of American liberty.

What is the present mission that allows 300+ drones to overfly the United States while those numbers are to increase exponentially?

It is difficult to determine which is the more deadly to American society: redistribution of wealth by Democrats or eternal wars for eternal peace by neoconservative Republicans.

Drones coming to execute in your neighborhood


FAR BEYOND THE SIMPLETONIAN COMPLEX—the barbarians are at the gates

Is Fort Smith, Arkansas the next Assassination Station or did I have a vulgar nightmare?

If not a vulgar nightmare, then why not an outcry from elected federal, state & local officials? The silence is deafening!  But then again, why should we expect some modicum of debate from elected federal officials, particularly since they are precisely the individuals who declared their disdain for American citizens by voting for the infamous, murderous National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Embedded in the NDAA are measures that should arouse every American citizen to arise and challenge the despicable & traitorous conduct of every member of their respective state’s national delegation who voted for the NDAA.

In the case of Arkansas there are six in the Congressional delegation, only five of the sitting delegation voted for the NDAA since the sixth member did not choose reelection.  The traitors are:
1.    Senator Mark Pryor (D)
2.    Senator John Boozman (R)
3.    Congressman Steve Womack (R)
4.    Congressman Tim Griffin (R)
5.    Congressman Rick Crawford (R)
Why haven’t any of the five Arkansas national office holders come forward and stated their case as to why they want 30,000 U.S. drones spying on, targeting, & assassinating American citizens?
They can only be described as uncivilized beings.

Congressman Tom Cotton (R) was not elected at the time of the vote. Note: 4 of the 5 belong to the POI (Party of Irrelevance & political cowards who as of Nov. 7 disposed of all vestiges relating to the U.S. Constitution, and moved squarely into the teeth of social Marxism.) Regarding Senator Pryor’s vote, as a Democrat you will know his position and vote ahead of time.

The aforementioned votes for the NDAA give approval for assassination for any reason, to President Obama and yes! the approval includes assassination of Americans. Two American lads have already been assassinated and it was not “collateral damage” because they were murdered 2 weeks after the father was killed.  The U.S. Senate & the House of Representatives have given the Pentagon authority to create a network of highly trained, completely unaccountable U.S. assassins, replete with “Kill Lists” and those lists are expanding daily.

Senator Ron Wyden, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, confirmed the fact that there are “secret legal opinions governing the use of drones in targeting assassinations”.  The secret operation rained down on American citizens, again, was compliments of the criminally inspired U.S. Congress & Senate. After Wyden’s revelation, one can only wonder what other dirt those two bodies have dumped and will continue to dump on U.S. citizens. No pun intended.

In the wings of the above revelation is the sobering fact that there are efforts being put forth to establish another “Secret Court”, again compliments of the U.S. Congress, legalizing murder. 

As previously mentioned, undergirding the treasonous behavior of the U.S. House & Senate is the transition of the Joint Special Operations Command into a highly trained command of unaccountable U.S. assassins.

President Barack Obama stated often in his first campaign that he would “fundamentally change America forever”, this he has done, the end result…A Police State run by his Excellency the Exalted President Obama.  Any citizen who is operating under the delusion or assumption that we are a free society goes beyond being called a Simpleton.  Obama has instituted a cultural transformation, no longer are we a Constitutional Republic. The aforementioned use of drones is another vile, treacherous act orchestrated by the U.S. Congress & Senate that has splintered the last remaining timbers of the wondrous society the Founders created.

Are citizens so steeped in the Simpletonian Complex they do not realize voting to return incumbents, election cycle after election cycle, has constitutionally and materially destroyed our republic and voting the lesser of the two evils is without merit.  When the distillation process is complete, your vote is meaningless. Withholding our votes is our only recourse.

So to the citizens of Fort Smith, Ark. and to the readers of this piece, are you not aware of the proposed killing machine that is to be anchored in Fort Smith or environs?  We are speaking of murder, yes murder, and the orders being given by a president whose parents were anarchists, whose associates are anti-Americans, and a president who despises America and taunts America at every turn.  He has successfully carried out his boast of forever fundamentally changing America.  OBSERVE! Former President G.W. Bush, American war criminal, set the stage that has created the environment for Congress to continue its lawlessness which has enabled Pres. Obama to unleash his corrupt & destructive regime. In Obama’s in-your-face Americans, along with the department of Army, have created a meritorious medal to be awarded to certain members of “Targeting Squadrons” and the ultimate killers, i.e. those who guide and activate the drones for their extraordinarily immoral, illegal & unconstitutional assassinations.

Citizens, by your continuing to practice the Simpletonian Complex, we now have no one to turn to for aid and comfort.  Our republic has been overrun by 3rd World nationals, legal & illegal, all by design, and they now hold the Royal Flush. Both political parties are corrupt to the core, what the Feds are not taking by force and ultimately destroying, the states are implementing their own methods of Constitutional destruction.

I will find it most difficult to live in a community that condones, supports, presents awards to drone pilots for their surgical excellence in assassination, and the wholesale killing of foreign nationals on the come by American citizens that are perhaps our acquaintances or neighbors killing by stealth.  The Targeting Squadrons function is to surveill, the drones kill, but it does take a human to activate the buttons & guide the drone to surgically execute their targets.  With the installation of drone technology there are no safe citizens.  U.S. citizens’ privacy and lives are no longer sacrosanct.

30,000 drones are to be used in the national network.  Who are the targets for assassination? Why else the overflying of America?   Government is a metastasizing cancer.  What is to be done?

Citizens are you aware that police and sheriff departments are arming their agencies with drones, and this is in addition to their already militarized units.  Why is this? They are certainly not being used to round up millions of illegals.

Can Fort Smith’s residents count on the Governor, Mayor, Directors, City Manager, State Representatives & Senators and the city newspaper the Times Record for their collective concerns & discussions  regarding the brutish criminal behavior of the U.S. Federal Government?

Perhaps there is no concern. From this vantage point, citizens appear to be either ignorant, scared, or have total misplaced trust in their elected and appointed officials.  How foolish & how tragic!

Bill attacks authority of Arkansas sheriffs


An attack on Arkansas’ Sheriffs—the last bastions of freedom from state & federal government gross citizen abuse.

I speak of HB 1012, sponsored by longtime politician Rep. Denny Altes (Fort Smith), and Freshman Rep. John Payton (Wilburn), both Republicans.

It is hard to comprehend why these two AR. State Representatives would push such a freedom killing Bill.  Obviously, they sold their souls to the company store.

Arkansas’ sheriffs represent Arkansas citizens’ last line of defense against a corrupt, overreaching, powerful federal government. 

Questions: 
1.    Who wrote the bill?  Is this the transparency we can expect from the newly elected Republican majority?
2.    What does the bill intend to provide for the authors?
3.    What is the reasoning that would dictate Arkansas’ Attorney General being inserted into this proposed sordid scheme which would allow, in this case, A.G. Dustin McDaniel, authorization to provide a federal employee written permission to arrest, search & seizure, etc. accompanied with no delay? Think of the potential political corruption the environment McDaniel is proposing would create.
4.    It appears that A.G. McDaniel has overstepped his legal bounds and is acting as a power broker to pass the freedom destroying HB 1012.
5.    Why is AG McDaniel attempting to usurp the sworn constitutional duties of Arkansas sheriffs? 
6.    The real laugher; if this bill is unfortunately given any consideration and passed, the Feds arrest, search or seizure would be made under federal or state customs or immigration laws, which have never, not once, been enforced to curtail 3rd World illegal immigration.  Selective law enforcement and the Feds excel.

If HB 1012 were passed it would have the potential of enslaving Arkansans, compliments of the federal & state governments.

The most recent criminal atrocities by the federal government, some police departments & other agencies, have boldly asserted they have 30,000 drones to overfly the U.S. with the intent of stripping us down to the bare skin, accompanied by murder, yes murder! Reps. Altes & Payton, do you really want to delegate more authority to the Feds & State?

I say to you Reps. Altes & Payton I am aghast at such unconstitutional & unconscionable conduct.

This week I sent out an email listing the criminal corruption and freedom taking acts instituted by the Federal Government, entitled “The Simpletonian Complex”.  It is so listed on the website arkansasfreedom.net     Obviously Altes & Payton are practitioners of The Simpletonian Complex, nor did they bother to read the piece.

On to the Bad Old Days

A legislator embarrasses himself-again

— NO SESSION of
the Arkansas legislature would be complete without some damfool piece of
legislation being disinterred from the historical woodwork. Next year’s
oh so-solemn proceedings haven’t even officially begun and already
Embarrassment No. 1 is in the hopper. It’s a bill that would require
federal agencies to get the local sheriff’s approval-in writing-before
daring to conduct any kind of search-and-seizure mission here in the
(once) Sovereign State of Arkansas.

Why do we have this slightly dizzying sensation of Deja Vu? Probably
because this proposal from state Senator Denny Altes of Ft. Smith and
Lost Causes brings back the Bad Old Days-specifically the Furious
Fifties and Seggish Sixties. Which is when demagogues of every
reactionary tendency roamed these latitudes from ever-calculating Orval
Faubus, our own nigh-Eternal Incumbent in the Governor’s Mansion, to
crude Lester (Ax Handle) Maddox of Atlanta, Ga. And every variety of the
species in between.

Together they left Southern history littered with their
leavings-Massive Resistance, the Southern Manifesto, Interposition and
Nullification and other such futilities and delusions. They were all
hollow at the core, though the styles of their proponents might differ.
Arkansas’ own J. William Fulbright with his intellectual pretensions
argued the case for segism with his characteristic high popalorum while
agitators like Asa Carter, George Wallace’s speechwriter, contributed
the low popahirum. (“Segregation today, segregation tomorrow,
segregation forever!”)

Nowadays one encounters such holdovers from those unsettled times
only rarely-a defeated candidate for the Legislature here, an
unreconstructed Confederate there. They may be the last vestiges of what
were called the Secesh during The War. They still materialize now and
then-like Marley’s Ghost clanking up Scrooge’s steps bearing the chain
he forged in life, link by link, yard by yard, dead weight by dead
weight. Which is what all those grand manifestoes amount to now, dead
weight, not that they made much sense then. Jim Johnson’s body lies
a-buried in his grave, but his spirit goes slouching on in proposals
like Denny Altes’ latest brainstorm, which is really more of a
fast-fading drizzle.

However diverse their rhetorical level, the glorified snake-oil
salesmen of the Bad Old Days used the good name of States’ Rights to
cover a multitude of sins, including defiance of the Constitution. They
might have loved a law that required the FBI to check with the local
sheriff’s office-say, the one in Neshoba County, Mississippi, where
those three civil rights workers were killed-before investigating a
federal crime.

Thank you, Denny Altes, for bringing to mind that whole ghastly
affair-indeed, that whole sad era. For we forget our history at our own
peril. Michael Schwermer, Andrew Goodman and James Chaney are names that
need to be remembered, indeed engraved in the Southern memory, and
their murder never forgotten. Or its lessons.

It’s hard to conceive of any American with an historical
consciousness, or conscience, who wouldn’t recognize what a bad idea Mr.
Altes’ latest proposal is. Even if he assures us that, should his bill
became law, federal lawmen could still stop a crime in progress
(whew!),and that, if the local sheriff himself was the one under federal
investigation, the FBI could get the needed permission from the state’s
attorney general. Like, say, Bruce Bennett, who was Arkansas’ attorney
general in 1964? Don’t make us laugh-wryly. Because ’tain’t nothin’
funny about it. It was said of General Bennett, who made a cause and
obsession of harassing the NAACP, that he knew more people and less law
than anybody in the state. Maybe the senator from Fort Smith could call
his bill the Bruce Bennett Memorial Act.

BY NOW even Senator Altes must realize what an embarrassment his bill
is, since he says he probably shouldn’t have filed it this year, just
as he filed a separate but equally nutty proposal for the 2011
legislative session. Some folks never learn. If he’s sincere when he
says he shouldn’t have filed this bill, the senator should waste no time
withdrawing it, and so spare both himself and the state further
embarrassment.

Other than making trouble where none now exists (between the federal
government and local law enforcement in Arkansas), it’s hard to see any
purpose in such a provocation in the guise of legislation. In the
unlikely event the Legislature actually passed Senator Altes’
misbegotten proposal, it’s even more unlikely the thing would hold up in
court, the Constitution and laws of the United States being the supreme
law of the land.

This kind of embarrassing thing should have happily ended with the
Bad Old Days, or even with the Confederate States of America. But some
of us seem stuck in an historical time warp. And while it’s easy enough
to have a little fun with their delusions, it is important, it is
imperative, that we all remember just how poisonous nostalgic little
games like Senator Altes’ can prove. They may not deserve to be taken
seriously, but they should be. We ignore them at our peril.

The best critique of recurrent delusions like Denny Altes’ may have
been delivered by George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past
are condemned to repeat it.”

There’s a reason Professor Santayana’s observation has become cliché.
It remains relevant. Especially whenever the Arkansas legislature
prepares to begin its regular, biennial session, and some legislator
introduces the by now almost mandatory damfool bill. This year it’s
Denny Altes. Who says the Ledge doesn’t have its traditions? This one it
would do well to skip.

U.S. states remain sovereign

— Much has been
written and discussed on the issue of secession petitions in the past
few weeks, and it seems that very few citizens on either side of the
argument understand the facts concerning this right. The first and
foremost truth that should be acknowledged regarding this topic is the
verdict of secession being legal or illegal. Since this issue comes
under the jurisdiction of the American Constitution, let’s start in
1776.

After a long train of tyrannical acts by England, the colonists
started seriously discussing a separation from the British empire. As we
should all know by now, Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of
Independence, which offered a legal defense for secession. Mr. Jefferson
plainly stated: “That whenever any Form of Government becomes
destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to
abolish it, and to institute new Government. . . .” Most people only
read the preamble to this magnificent American document, but one needs
to read it completely to fully understand what the colonists were
rightfully aggrieved over and their need for a secession from England.

After winning our War of Independence, the now-sovereign states
drafted and ratified the Articles of Confederation as their newly formed
government, our first Union. Note that not one state was coerced into
joining this confederacy. The Articles of Confederation stated that it
would form a “perpetual union,” but the union it created was not
perpetual. It lasted from March 1, 1781, until all the states that were
members of it had seceded from it to form a new union under the
Constitution of 1787. Again, not one state was coerced into joining the
new union or remaining a sovereign state.

After nine states, individually and not collectively, had ratified
the Constitution of 1787, this new government was now the law of the
land, but recognized only by those states that ratified it in their
respective state conventions. Furthermore several states specifically
reserved in their state constitutions the right of secession, and this
reservation, according to the rules of law, was ensured to the benefit
of the other states as well. A denial of the right of secession is a
denial of sovereignty, and secession was an obvious power reserved to
the states under the 10th Amendment.

A definitive explanation of all of this is a book titled A View of
the Constitution, written by federal abolitionist judge, William Rawle
of Pennsylvania, who was a contemporary of George Washington and
Benjamin Franklin and their personal friend. Mr. Rawle devotes an entire
chapter on how a state may lawfully secede from the American Union. He
plainly states that this event is decided by the will of the people of
their respective states and not by Congress or a president. Also,
Article VI of the Constitution articulates “that this Constitution . . .
shall be the supreme Law of the Land.”

Most people wrongly consider that the war in 1861 settled the issue
of secession forever. According to Article V of the Constitution, only
three-fourths of the several states can ratify or alter this document,
not the U.S. military, the president, Congress or the judiciary. In
other words, if secession was legal before the Civil War, it still is
today. Also, for any action to be deemed as unlawful, it must be
codified in law. That’s why we have elected representatives at the state
and federal level; to make certain actions illegal such as murder,
arson, robbery, speeding, texting while driving, etc. According to my
study of American history, no Congress yet has made it a crime to agree
with Thomas Jefferson.

Secession is a political divorce, and no union, whether it be a
marriage, business partnership, or union of states is irrevocable. Any
and all can be dissolved. The folly of the secession petitions is it
seems citizens are requesting permission to divorce themselves from the
federal government. No state needs this authorization from their
respective partners, and if one does not have the right to secede, it is
no longer free.

Fidelity to the Constitution is what holds the union together and
should be consensual. Unfaithfulness by any of its parties can justify
its disunion. I am in no way advocating any state leave this union, just
stating the legality of it and letting the readers absorb what I’ve
written and form their own opinions. I believe Patrick Henry said it
best: “The first thing I have at heart is American liberty; the second
thing is American union.” In a liberty-based society, liberty always
trumps government.

They can’t seal the borders but can spy on us with 30,000 Drones

It’s Bird, It’s a Plane…no it’s an Obama Drone!

Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor:  the scion of the Pryor political dynasty, offered the following words in a story appearing in the Fort Smith Times Record, March1, 2012…”I don’t want to sound greedy but we want both”.   He of course was speaking of retaining the 21 A-10’s based at the 188th Air Guard Station in Fort Smith, as well as becoming a base for “Predator Reaper Drones”.  

In typical politician bloviating to curry votes, but not one word about 30,000 drones to be used to overfly the U.S. nationally, brought about by the passage of HR 658…The Strategic Implementation Plan. Each drone has the capability to stay aloft for 50 hours.

Pryor does not mention the $16.4 TRILLION national debt, the ongoing 5 or 6 preemptive wars conducted by the empire building U.S. government, and more importantly Pryor, nor any other government official, has stated why drones are overflying America, and somewhat less important, what’s going to happen to safety in the friendly skies?

With corrupt leaders like Pryor and the entire Arkansas delegation, but not limited to, and when the implementation of HR 658 is complete, the U.S. Senate & House of Representatives will have destroyed the last vestige of freedom by having the capability of invading every dimension of our person.

All the above accomplished while America and her Republican presidential candidates’ debate over birth control appliances and oral contraception…priorities you say?

 This indeed is a fine kettle of fish.
